ft i GIRLS AND BOYS TAKE STATE Cross Country as a sport at Manogue this year, grew by leaps and bounds. The girls took the State Championship for a second year in a row. For the first time in our school ' s history the boys ' team took the Championship. Scott Des Jardin was the individual State Champion for the second year in a row. The girls once again showed all the strength they had last year. They had a lot more to lose than the boys because they had State Cham- pionship reputation to keep up. Even with all of the added pressure they pulled through and won again. The boys team was plagued with injuries this year and had a slow start but once everything began to come together the team knew that for the first time the Championship was within reach. Through a lot of hard work and dedication C.C. has finally started to become a recognized sport at Manogue. With both teams being winners, we hope we have started a new tradition. 53

GIRLS ' AND BOYS ' MOVE INTO THE AAA For the past seven years, the Girls Team has taken AA State, but the chances were slim that they could be the AAA State Champions this year. Since they weren ' t accepted into the AAA League until zone, their wins against Wooster, Sparks, Hug, Incline, and Whittel didn ' t count. Although they played against stiffer competition this year, they kept their spirits high and never gave up. Top Row: Judi Anxo, Linda Maldonado, Lisa Allen Bottom Row: Noelle Cullen, Kaylyn O ' Gara, Marcelle Herrera, Heidi Seevers, Theresa McElroy. ■r vv 54 TENNIS
