Text from Pages 1 - 136 of the 1975 volume:

he is 7 cei Suet What does it mean to be one? To be one and alone — is lonely and sad. But to be one and yet be many, Is something different. We at Lynch are one, And yet we are many. We are different people with different ideas. All working towards a common goal; A goal to unite; To form a truly Christian Community. The growth of this community had a new beginning in 1974. Lynch blended two divisions to make one; one administration arose from two. H Our growth continues so that we may become truly one. We continue to work together and grow closer to each other. SEE To the Students, Staff Parents and Faculty of 1974-1975 Who Have Given: LIFE, SPIRIT, EFFORT, Tey. SUPPORT, and Memselves, to building this community, we dedicate, VERITAS 1975 OE tema 3 but for what you a are mak — I love you because you could have done o.mak could have done tor ake m You have done. ity t withou af. tas | You have doné- a friend med nS: Spam ing of me. | have done more than any creed | 2. — «+ d more than any fate without a word, ‘ Ee - aot om oes 5 asten Teme P. sthaps this is what being a « 4 - hae . .. . e « i - % e : Dear Graduates of 1975, Daring the past twelve years, you have put down the foundations of your earthly and eternal dwelling. The foundation is laid and a new work, the work of building, is about to begin. ; : Many men and women have aided you in gathering the materials that are in your foundation. However, you are the ones who have put them in place, selected or rejected the foundation stones and framed them into the pattern on which your walls will rise. It is an awesome labor and responsibility that was placed on you in childhood and adol- escence, Will everything be right? © Will the foundations that you have laid support the walls? There is no simple answer to these questions. There is no vision of tomorrow available to us, no matter how much we want to know, no matter how noble our motives. Life unfolds to us in mystery, hour by hour, day by day. Will tomorrow see the fulfillment of our hopes, our : plans, our dreams? Only one is certain. : If you have built into your foundation the corner stone who is the Christ, then one dream, one hope that inflames the heart of every man and woman is certain. The flaming longing for happiness that propels each of us will be fulfilled beyond what we even dare to hope for, be- yond what we can even dream of in our greatest fancies. This will be yours without end, Your success in this life can be measured only against that real achievement of the vision of God forever. Only in that vision is there any permanent happiness, the real goal of all our efforts and strivings. Each of you will spend your life, short or long, pursuing happiness. Only one goal will grant your heart's desire. All else will satisfy for : a time or to some degree. Saint Augustine's words reflect the reality } for each of us: ''My heart is restless until it rests in you, O God, I pray that God will bless you as you build your dwelling and that it may stand forever, with Christ as your cornerstone, Pott D VEkomakenr, 0.P Rev. D.A. Shanahan, O.P. President Dear Students of Bishop Lynch, You are the light of the world. Don't hide your light! let it shine for all; Let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5: 14-16 This message, spoken by Christ to each man and woman who bears the name of Christian, has special meaning for you. Your presence and parti- cipation at Bishop Lynch High School means that you experience unique op- portunities which in turn result in unique responsibilities. During your years at Bishop lynch, you have the call and challenge not only to experience but also to build Christian community. Community is strengthened and encouraged each time you show genuine concern for others, manifest generosity with your time and talents, and witness a striving for excellence in all dimensions of your being. Community is weakened whenever you fall short in any of these aspects. Our world today needs a sense of Christian community. Our world today needs you. It needs the light and truth of Christ which is with- in you. When you feel empty, ask. When you receive, give. The Lord has richly blessed each of you with His gifts, and He asks no less of you than that you return these gifts to Him through your generous and full response to and among the people you encounter. In this way you will be a light, a sign of hope, a builder of the community of men and the Kingdom of God. May the peace of Christ be always with you, and may you extend that peace among men. Without the Student Council and Class Officers many of the activities of the school year would not be. During the past year, in addition to providing dances, parties, and other services the Student Council held another successful Thanksgiving Drive and its 2nd annual sidewalk sale, providing over a 1000 dollars for the Marty Mitchell Scholarship Fund. The Student Council has an executive board and 10 representatives from each class. Again this year the Student Council had for its patient moderators Fr. Gambro and Sr. Dorice. The Class Officers consist of a girls' and a boys’ president and vice-president and councilmen from each class. They work on activities for their respective classes as well as doing other services.
