Chuck Cole has moderat- ed the yearbook for the last five years, devoting much of his time and ideas to the annual creation of the Accolade. Next year ' s staff will not be fortunate enough to have the unself- ish support of Mr. Cole, as he is mov- ing on to new opportunities. We hope that happiness and success may be his, for it is what he deserves. His open mind, humorous wit and eager- to-help attitude played a major role in the yearbook ' s makeup. His efforts can never be repaid; only deeply ap- preciated and remembered always. Good luck Mr. Cole. With love, Your 1977 Accolade Staff m Accolade Staff Working Harder Than Ever The Accolade staff has worked harder than ever this year in order to bring you a truly great yearbook. New made friendships, like new wine, Age will mellow and refine, Friendships that have stood the test — Time to change-are surely best; Brow may wrinkle, hair grow gray, Friendship never knows decay. For ' mid old friends, tried and true, Once more we our youth renew. But old friends, alas! may die, New friends must their place supply. Cherish friendship in your breast — New is good, but old is best. A whole year has passed since I thought about writing this page; a year of meetings, deadlines, responsibility, worry, but most of all, a year of fun. My senior year may have been busy, but I managed to squeeze in a few other activities besides yearbook ... All of us somehow manage to put off worry at least temporarily and take a little vacation. (These are sometimes referred to as weekends:) It is these moments, I hope, that are emphasized in Accolade 77 . . . moments that you can be freely you. There are a few people without whose help and support I could never have handled this job. The first of these people is Chuck Cole. I ' m really sorry to see him leave Luers. I, like so many others, consider him to be one of the best (if not the best) teachers I ever had, not to mention what a spectacular yearbook moderator he is. Also on my list of special people are Paula Hedges and Alisa Kortepeter, always unselfish with their time and talents; never too busy to help me with yearbook. Lastly I would like to thank my sister Sheila, who is responsible for the great looking cover and various artwork throughout the book. I had a great staff this year, and would like to wish the best of luck to next year ' s staff under editor Judy Cobb. With the experience they gained this year, I ' m sure she ' ll have no trouble . . . I hope this yearbook means as much to you as it does to me. What would a schoolyear be without a yearbook to hold together its good and bad times? I ' ll never forget my experiences as editor, but can ' t say I ' m not relieved to see this final page go to press. It ' s over, at last, and I am Carol A. Nolan, editor. 204 Closing
