Sports are a keynote activity at Ludden. For the past three years Ludden athletes have been taking great steps forward in intramural and inter-scholastic sports activities. During Ludden ' s first year the initial basketball, baseball, and cheerleading teams were set up. Cross-country and track were organized later, as were vari- our types of intramurals. Ludden ' s second sports ' year was basically like its first except there were more sports for girls. The boys ' teams really picked up speed during this sec- ond historic year, and our basketball team won its way into the Diocesan play- offs. Again, this year, Bishop Ludden has taken more steps forward. Football was established and the boys gave it all they had. The basketball team really ran wild this year and was within two wins of the Diocesan Championship. More intra- murals were set up this past year, including archery for the boys and swimming for the girls. Perhaps the greatest step forward was taken a few months ago when Ludden joined the Central New York Cities League, placing our school in league competi- tion. A special recognition should go out to the athletic directors, coaches and physical education teachers who have helped propel Ludden into the athletic spot- light. Yes, a first step forward has been taken in athletics at Bishop Ludden and if predictions are true, many more forward steps will follow.
