WALLS, Ph.D. Assistant Superintendent of Schools CONCERN FOR THE STUDENTS' tomorrows, prompts Sister M. Jose- tina, Prefect of Studies and Father Richard La Hart, to search out college opportunities lor Kenrick's seniors. REVIEWING PLANS FOR KENECHO, Father La Hart provides spirited encouragement as co-editors, Kathleen DeHaven and Salvatore Del- Conte, strive to produce a unique 1971 yearbook. World leaders today possess many distinctive quali- ties. Strength, courage, tolerance, understanding and concern for others are just a few of the characteris- tics oi a true leader. Though the world of Kenrick is just a minute part of the universal world, in our prin- cipal, Father LaHart, we have a man who realizes that each of us is a vital part of our world. Father, by his example, has led us to a new awareness of our role in the changing world of tomorrow. Yes, we believe there is a new world coming-coming in peace, com- ing in joy, coming in love. The students are the foundation of Bishop Kenrick and through Student Government we became a living institution. The Student Council provides a channel through which the students may adequately communicate with the administra- tion. Its members, the officers and representatives, provide the seed which brings fresh attitudes and approaches to our edu- cational program. These officers combat apathy and indiffer- enceg they fight for student involvement and responsible freedom, being careful to become active themselves. MAY PROCESSICN Kenrick pays tribute to Mary with its annual service in her honor. The May Queen, Kathy Gan- ley, her court and their escorts, solemnly witness our Marian devotion. By joining together in prayer to our heavenly Mother in a concelebrated Mass, the upperclassmen strengthened their plea for world peace and love. After thus honoring Mary, students realized that devotion to our Lady is an integral part in the world of a Kenrickite. .incl A PLEDGE OF LOVE! Father Durney accepts the floral wreath, symbolic of the offering Kenrickites make of them- selves to our Blessed Lady. RELATING THE THEME of the popular novel Love Story to our every day lives, Mr. Kilcoyne listens to a relevant discussion among interested students. RETREAT Assuming a new and dynamic approach, Chaplains Father Murray and Father Durney arranged a day of recollection for the seniors at Saint Charles Seminary. These students, in preparing for their role in the world of to- morrow, responded wholeheartedly to the invitation for a re-evaluation of one's self. Discussion speakers, chosen by the students themselves, conducted sessions on various topics relating to the lives of a teenager. A penitential service, followed by a concele- brated Mass enabled the Class of '71 to achieve a better understanding of themselves and others. IN RESPONSE TOUTHE THEME of the senior retreat, Today is the first day ot the rest of your life, the senior class joins in prayer as they welcome the world of tomorrow with renewed awareness. Our co-editors, Kathleen DeHaven and Salvatore DelConte have cultivated a keen sense of vision. They have attempted to reveal not only the how of our living but also the why, From the wealth of her experience as well as her personhood, Sister Alice Bernard has helped us to record the sum of our activities in the world of Kenrick.
