DURING A DUAL meet with Archbishop Wood, Al McCracken, Ed Gildea, and Steve Mitchell try to make it a 1, 2, 3, sweep for Bishop Kenrick in the half-mile. MAKING A GOOD handoff is essential in a relay race as Tony Venta and John McMullen show in their skill at passing the baton. Baseball THE TOUGHEST JOB in the game is catching but Kevin Irv Papiernik makes it look easy. Here, he reaches for a low pitch. CATCHING THE DEFENSE off-guard, Mike Zabel bunts his way on to base. Once he is on, he is a dangerous base-runner who has many steals to his credit. A VITAL PART in the Knights' defensive unit is third baseman Bob Romano. His quick hands and strong arm turn infield hits into easy outs. Here he clearly fields a ground ball and throws out the batter. ONE OF THE TEAM'S brighter hopes in front-line pitchers is Walt Gramps Brandenberger.
