s TRACK IS NOT a spectator's sport, as shown here by the big crowd watching Ray Morris shot put at Roosevelt Field during a meet. OVER THE TOP is a familiar term to Archie Allen IB, as he con- stantly clears the bar at 5' 10 and contributes to Kenrick's victory in the high iump. DURING A DUAL meet with Archbishop Wood, Al McCracken, Ed Gildea, and Steve Mitchell try to make it a 1, 2, 3, sweep for Bishop Kenrick in the half-mile. MAKING A GOOD handoff is essential in a relay race as Tony Venta and John McMullen show in their skill at passing the baton. A good pass can save vital seconds and mean the difference between winning and losing. 1 A 3 W--we -I vv-- Ly. I HARD RUNNING DURING the Championships, as shown here by Ed Gildea, makes Kenrick one of the top contenders in the meet. His leg of the two-mile relay helps bring Kenrick valu- able points toward victory. A PRACTICING THE THEORY of warming up before a meet, Tom Welsh sets the discus on its long iourney of bringing home a victory for Kenrick in a dual meet with Bishop McDevitt at Roosevelt Field.

Baseball THE TOUGHEST JOB in the game is catching but Kevin Irv Papiernik makes it look easy. Here, he reaches for a low pitch. CATCHING THE DEFENSE off-guard, Mike Zabel bunts his way on to base. Once he is on, he is a dangerous base-runner who has many steals to his credit. A VITAL PART in the Knights' defensive unit is third baseman Bob Romano. His quick hands and strong arm turn infield hits into easy outs. Here he clearly fields a ground ball and throws out the batter. ONE OF THE TEAM'S brighter hopes in front-line pitchers is Walt Gramps Brandenberger. He is important in the Knights' drive for the championship. - fwssfmwfsfs we wwe '1:-rwf xszswev: :nw '15-fmslxfs .feb- :sg fy 1.Nst.w ,fws:fs ::wfmwf.szt.s1:r11I sw
