EAGER TO MEET the challenge of publishing an excellent news- paper, THE SHIELD page editors, Veronica Graff, Ann McKernan, Julia Reddy, Ed Bartoszek, and Jane Grey, collaborate ideas on page planning. SPORTS' WRITERS ALERT!! Sports editor, Ed Bartoszek, distributes assignments to Jimmy Ronca, Ed Gildea, Ed Ausman, Sam Augus- ine, Steve Mitchell, and Vernon Chinchilli in order to meet the dead- line for the final edition. PROJECT CLOTHING, sponsored by THE SHIELD for the orphans of Saigon, Viet Nam, engrosses Bernadette Kennedy, Patricia Cinaglia, Margaret and Mary Jane Kennedy who help to prepare the boxes for shipment. To be a member of THE SHIELD staff is to know the mean- ing of the words: diligence, determination, and total in- volvement. Under the able supervision of Sister Joseph Miriam, l.H.M., this year's staff has utilized these three words in producing a newspaper worthy of the rating All- Catholic. Each of the five scholastic issues of THE SHIELD vibrates with information vital to every phase of Kenrick's life. lt is because of this that we salute The Shield for its dedication to the true meaning of iournalism-to print the truth! il

After many months of arduous labor, the i969 KENECHO has finally materialized. During its creation, the staff has attempted to retain the individuality of each student while exemplifying the necessity of a cooperative spirit character- istic of Kenrick's student body. Under the guidance of Sister Margaret Miriam, l.H.M., we, the staff, have endeavored to surpass the All-Catholic yearbook of former years in bringing to you a vivid picture of Kenrick life as it helps mature an industrious student. We have presented this book, hopeful that the picture of Ken- rick will remain as an incentive to America's youth in its quest for truth. DETERMINATION AND DEDICATION to provide the student body with an exceptional yearbook offer many delightful experiences to members of the KENECHO staff: Sara Maley, Sheila Forth,'Barbara Loeper, Sue Schuyler, Mary Lou DiGiovanni, Marte Peters, and Andrea Benkovich. WITH A LITTLE HELP from fellow staff members Maryanne Dell Angelo and Carmella Mirabile, Charlotte Catanzaro fills in the missing link of a caption she is writing. ENJOYING A LAUGH, Susan Spera and Carol Cygal wonder when some of those candid photos were taken. Kenechoy
