The highlight of the musical season was the presentation by the Glee Club of The Belle of Barcelona, a three-act musical comedy laid in gay old Spain during fiesta time. The story concerns a United States customs inspector who arrives in Barcelona just in time to save his sweetheart, Margarita, from marriage to a scheming noble- man. This plot is underscored by a romance between a comical Irishman and an austere English governess. The lively Spanish chorus and songs helped to make the operetta a huge success. This was one of the many activities of the Glee Club, which, under the direction of Sister Mary Damian, has not only provided entertainment, but also a cultural outlet for the talents of many of our students.
