611155 M tary Here we are, the first graduation class of our beloved new,' school! With what mingled emotions of nostalgia for our old familiar schools and teachers, and fexerish anticipation of the thrills that awaited us, we entered this last event- ful senior year! And truly eventful it has been for all uf us in this beauti- ful modern school! Most of us have come from St. Paul's, St. Joseph's and the Immaculate Conception. We are not strangers to each other, having matched our wits on the Basketball Court and Gridiron. But on entering Bishop Kenny High, former rivals were merged into one big happy family, with the spirit of Crusaders seeking adventure in the new and the strange. All of us have felt right at home with our beloved Sisters of St. Joseph who have known us for a long time. From our first day we had confidence that our Super- intendent, Father O'Shea, and our Principal, Sister Marie De Lourdes, would provide everything in their power to make our school life pleasant and interesting. Well, soon the newness wore off and in a few weeks the seniors were busy, and important. too. We were asked to share the responsibilities, as well as the thrills of senior students. Many of us were elected as Councilors and officers of various school organizations. No sooner were classes organized than our thoughts turned to Class Rings, Caps and Gowns, and our motto seemed to be 6'Let's have a Partyf' Parties made our world go round at a rapid speed. Our class, under the sponsorship of Sister Mary Monica and Sister Mary Brendan, occupied two busy homerooms where all kinds of activities were planned and plotted.

Hlass ffisfvry Outstanding students we had in our midst. Under the direction of our music teacher, Sister Mary Damian, talent came to light. The Glee Club and the Thespians delighted the public on the stage and TV. Yes, we had fun. We edited the Shield', with Sister Mary Edward, and the Crusader,' with Sister Brendan. We had our first dance in the new school. Our boys took to the football field and the basketball court, and in a blaze of crimson and white our peppy Cheerleaders yelled for the '4Crusaders. And in two hectic weeks we campaigned for public offices and the world listened and recognized our civic virtues. But while we were enjoying the lighter side of life, planning the senior class play, and getting our pictures ready for the Annual, getting our formals and thinking of the Prom, we did do some serious thinking. How we strove to catch up with our smart commercial teacher, Sister Mary Alice, who lured us on to uso many words per minute. And with Sister Mary Herbert solving our problems and directing chemical experiments, we enjoyed the role of Curie and Einstein, and made dis- coveries that have pushed atomic science fifty years ahead. Now our first and last year in this dear school has come and gone, too fast for some of us, others eager to get a start on their careers. All of us have memories that will stay with us forever. And the spiritual values that our devoted teachers have given us will, we trust. last through the hard years ahead. To our parents and all those who have promoted our welfare in this splendid school, we are grateful. May each and every member of this first graduation class be true to the spirit of Bishop Kenny High!
