Man And Life Stud For Literature Posters and paper--this suggests sonie of the many and varied activi- ties of English students this year. Posters were designed by Anierican literature students to illustrate ideas and synibols in the novel, BABBITT. lnterpretations of poetry, short stor- ies, and novels were Written by col- lege-bound juniors and seniors. Literature I students concentrated on the study of literary types with great interest shown in the terror of Poe's tales. Sophomores experi- niented with a seniester of literature and a semester of history. The trials of friendship were experienced in the reading of such novels as SEPARATE PEACE by John Knowles. Juniors viewed the Writer's vision of the Anierican dreani froni Benjaniin Franklin to the GREAT GATSBY. Seniors faced the comic and tragic vision of nian in English literature. With honors and Advanced Place- nient courses for the aggressive and accelerated students, the English departnient continued to prepare fu- ture college students with ininiediate college credit.
