Q I W1 t n if ,Vo ,Q . -A., --44 L, ' H awww ,Mx To Sister Ann Palrice A day, a minute, an hour never passes that some student, weary after a hard quiz, joyful after some new honor, in his travels through the halls, doesn't receive a personal greeting, encouragement or correction from our principal. Things like this make the students realize the fact that their principal is interested in each of them. It isn't every principal who would take the time to come around to the rooms and personally congratulate the students on something well done, or to visit the lunch room and see that her charges are eating and relaxing properly. But Sister Ann Patrice does, and we all love and respect her for it. We seniors will especially miss you, Sister, but we will always remember you for what you are-a super, com- panion, a marvelous guide, and a beloved Sister. Faculty Students in his history and physical cducation classes arc real boosters for Coach ,lim Hclmert, who in his four years at Hogan has built up that all for one and one for all Ram spirit. Coming from The Saint Mary College, Xavier, Miss Constance Welling, as Hogan's teacher of home economics this year, is respons- ible for those torturously tantalizing whiffs of cookie baking and those chic ensembles behind the sewing rooin's glass doors. She also teaches typing. Mrs. Robert Green is the same teacher of English, graceful aes- thetic dancer and competent gym instructor as Miss Mary Fitz- Gerald. Only the name is different. That .peppy orchestra that entertains all Hoganites is under the supervision of Miss Dorothy Ditmars, who conducted her own orchestra, '4Dot and Her Dashes of Rhythm, at The Saint Mary College last year. The person who is most interested in hearing and helping our aches and pains is Mrs. Cleo Cowgill. Members have kept themselves and the whole student body active, per- forming spiritual and corporal works of mercy. it has all been backed with thc fun that seems to follow charity around and has helped to arouse that wholehearted spirit of cooperativeness which is developing this year. The Apostolic committee sent members to help at the St. Anthonyis Baby Home each Saturday, and to serve dinner on Sunday at the Home for the Aged. The Eucharistic committee, whose principal work has to spread the devotion lo the Sacred Heart and the Blessed Sacra- ment, reminded the students to dedicate their homes to the Sacred Heart and asked them to spend at least one hour a month before the Blessed Sacrament. Twice a month the zealous members of the Literature coni- mittee mimeographed peppy, morale-boosting religious bulletins and placed them in the hands of the student body. In addition, they distributed Catholic magazines to the non-Catholic hospitals of Kansas City, and helped in the observance of Catholic Book Week and Catholic Press Month. , ,. ,Jr . 4 1 eg:-.S 'f 4' ' if ' r Ad 5 U - Q . l 7x . ' In the opening game of the Catholic League season the underdogged Hogan Rams held the De La Salle Cadets to a scoreless deadlock at CYC stadium. Faithful Hogan hearts rose and fell as De La Salle came near the last stripe a few times, but the stalwart Rams kept the goal line unscathed. After this auspicious beginning, the Ram eleven, the favored team, lost a tough one to the Glennon Eagles by the small margin of 7-0 at CYC. Then Hogan made the mistake uf running into a flock of Hawklets from Rock- hurst, who flew away with a 30-0 dc-vision. Following this, the Rams lost a hear!- breaker to the Lillis Irish: 7-6 in thc final quarter. A great day for the Rams was the winning of the homecoming game from the Hi -1 Rockets of Redemptorist, 13-7. n Fpfxl ,bl Q '-v W. Many a dignified upperclassman lost her dignity after the first few wieners so delicately steamed in thc school kitchen by senior chefs Bernadine Hess, Jeanie Ryan and Catherine Allen. Plaid shirts and jeans were the featured costumes. and favorite records blared forth their gay tunes. Planners for the annual Sodality dance capitalized on the Valentine theme to give us a heart-bedccked gym with the Queen of all hearts, the Blessed Mother, smiling down at us from a beautiful life-size painting by Virginia Lenge.
