Today with n increased enrollment the faculty too has grown rom 32 to 45 including 9 priests, 29 sisters, and 7 rymembers. By the fall of 1958 it became apparent that in- reased facilities would be necessary. Our Bishop 'ith the aid of the pastors of the city decided to nite their campaigns for expansion of both grade nd high schools in the city. The United Catholic dlicational Campaign was launched in the spring of 958 and reached a climax by June topping the goal 7 that had been set at 331,600,000 One of the buildings to be constructed from the drive was the annex to Heelan on the corner of Eleventh and Grandview. Ground-breaking ceremo- nies took place September 15, 1958, with Bishop joseph Mueller turning the first spadeful. The new building is expected to be ready for oc- cupancy by September, 1959, and will contain space for cafeteria, music rooms, industrial arts facilities, and other special activities. The building will also serve as the center for C.Y.O. activities.

The Story of a Decade's Growth On November 24, 1946, one thousand men met at the Cathedral and, after having received Christ's blessing at Benediction, celebrated by Bishop Noa, they began the task of soliciting funds for the future Catholic co-educational high school. IF was not until October 12, 1948, that the ground was first broken by Bishop Mueller at the proposed site at Eleventh and Douglas. In September, 1949, classes began to assemb. and a Heelan way of life began to emerge. The first graduating class in june, 1950, nun bered 142. During the years the numbers hav steadily grown larger and by the close of tl first decade over 1,850 students will have joint the ranks of Heelan graduates.
