MR. STEFAN SZEMLER, a native of Szekesfe- hervar, Hungary, is head of the Music De- partment at Heelan High School. Mr. Szemler studied music at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. For six years he was head master of the Academy of Music in his home town. He then accepted the position as instructor in music in the Finnish States Academy of Music. During this time, he be- came a noted concert violinist, appearing in many famous European theatres. MR. STEFAN SZEMLER Head of Music Department MR. CON NIE CALLAHAN CONNIE CALLAHAN, a native of Leeds, Iowa, was a graduate of Sioux City's Trinity High School in 1944. He entered Momingstde Col- lege in 1946, where he majored in Physical Education, eaming his degree in midyear 1950. He was voted Little All-American back. first team, in his senior year at Momingslde. Callahan is assistant coach at Heelan High. He teaches modem history and acts in the capacity of study hall supervisor. MR. EDWARD F. SIMONICH Athletic Director Varsity Football, Basketball, and Track Coach Boys' Physical Education Director MR. EDWARD SIMONICH, a 1939 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and former All-American fullback, came to Sioux City after eight highly successful years of coach- ing in schools in Montana. From 1939 to 1944, Mr. Simonich coached football and basketball at Carroll College of Helena, Montana, and was head of the physical training department of the Navy Training Unit at the college. He then tumed to professional football and played one season with the Chicago Bears. Later he retumed to Central High of Butte, Montana, where he coached from 1944 to 1947. In the fall of 1947, he came to Trinity High School as football coach. Big Ed is now coach of football, basketball, and track at 1-leelan High. Palgfia X12
