Mike Starz k, Damon C , S Be Boys Basketball The 1984-1985 Crusader basketball team was under the leadership of new head coach Rick Teran. The year was definitely a rebuilding year since last year's state finalist team had been made up of so many seniors. After a slow start the team progressed quite well and won the South Zone championship by defeating St. John's in two straight games. They played North Zone Champs Wichita Falls Notre Dame for district and lost by a small deficit of 4 points. The team then braved snow and ice to reach Wichita Falls for the district tournament. There they won their first round game defeating Alamo Catholic by a large margin. They then went into the tournament cham- pionship game where they were defeated by Notre Dame who then became our district s representative at the State Tournament. Though the team was not able to make another trip to State everyone was proud of their South Zone Championship and their second place finish at the District Tournament.
