One Last Look Bock is The road to the State Championship was long and hard, but with determination and togetherness we held firm in our quest. lt was the defeat handed to us from Eustace which taught us that games were won by hard work. We struggled by Bullard and lost a heartbreaker to First Baptist. We felt lost and discouraged, yet at the Homecom- ing gome against Edgewood, our spirit and pride returned and we were renewed - ready to work together again. And sud- denly it all began to synchronize. Harder and harder we practiced. And harder and harder we played. We had a desire to win! We crushed Cistelcian. Notre Dome, Garland Christian, Reicher, Sacred Heart. und Lutheran North. The end of the road awaited us in Temple on the first day of December. Sacred Heart of Holletsville met us ready to play. Their strong defense held us in place in the first halt. but with o few halftime adjustments we began to drive them off. Our defense held its poise and stopped our opponents spirited passing game, We wan that night 22-0. Our dream became reality. 'iii moreaesmwrs lt is not the critic who counts, not the mon who points out how the strong mon stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is ac- tually in the areno: whose lace is marred by dust and sweat and blood: who strives valiontly: who errs and comes up short again and again: who knows the great enthusiosms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause: who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievements: ond who at the worst, if he foils, at least fails while daring greatly: so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither defeat nor victory. The heat and humidity of early August bear down on the body like nothing it has ever felt before. Yet, there is a will to overcome physical limitations: a will to transcend the heat: a desire to win.

Volleyball The 1984-85 Volleyball team played many tough games this season. Although they had limited success, the girls played competitive- ly. The volleyball team was under the direction of varsity coach Maripat Putzer, and Junior Varsity coach Gina George.
