A Freshman Is . . . What exactly is a freshman? freshman Cfreshmanj n. 1. A student in the first year of high school or college. 2. Any beginner. Ac- cording to Roget's College Thesaurus Ca book with synonyms and antonyms of numerous wordsja freshman, n. plebe, underclassman, novice, greenhorn, tenderfoot. But students have a different view. Freshmen stated: A freshman is a great, great, great person! They are outgoing and very spirited!! A freshman is the backbone of the school. A freshman is an old eighth-grader. Sophomore students, as well as up- perclassmen, had a different view. A lot of them thought of a freshman as being squir- relly, immature, and naive. One sophomore said, A freshman is a mooch . . . a year dumber. . .a smart aleck . . . cocky. A freshman is someone who doesn't know what's going on in the school. Upperclassmen's definitions of a freshman WSIS: A freshman is a person who tries to fit in where they are not wanted . . . and they're not! A freshman is a nothing, a lowlife . . . not useful in any way. l'm almost a senior! - lt doesn't matter what they are or what they do! A freshman is someone who tries to act like a senior 5- but can't get away with it! And when we asked the faculty, they had these things to say: A freshman is a scapegoat for all sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
