A Farewell ro Father Reverend William T. O'Mara, our dedicated principal for the past eight years. announced his resignation from T. K. Gorman, effective at the end of the 1984-85 school year. Father, as he is affectionately called, has seen many improvements during his tenure at T.K.G. The school has received the accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as growing into a separate high school and middle school, with additional improved facllltles. Father was the overseer of the work when the new facilities were being built in 1981-62. Father will be leaving Gorman to go for o one year study at the Institute of Spirituality and Worship of the Jesuit School of Theology, in Berkeley. California, after which, he hopes to return to Tyler to work in the area of Adult Education. The T. K. Gorman Community will truly miss Father, but we wish him well in his new endeavors. The Parish and Gorman Community turned out for the Mass of Thanksgiving, held at the Milam J. Joseph Community Center, to honor Father O'Mara. A. Father prepares for the Eucharist. D. Msgr. Joseph presented Father with a statue ofa pair of gloved hands. holding a handball, which included a pla- que making reference to Father's many victories and one defeat . . .to Milam J. Joseph. C. Father was presented with a picture collage containing pictures of most of the people from his Gorman days. D. The culminating gift was a beautiful stained glass replica ofthe Gorman seal, given by the Immaculate Concep- tion Parish. E. Father poses with a group of Seniors. . . F. And a group of Sophomores. G. Presentation of the gifts at the mass. H. Father and the Maloney family pase beside a pyramid of his favorite Pepsis. I. Father and two Senior compodres - George Tures and Ronnie Bolton.
