Mrs . J . Quirk's second and third grade combined their efforts to show the con- trast between the first Thanksgiving and the way we celebrate today. Using various references to learn about the trip on the Mayflower, the children made Pi lg r i rn dolls, cradles, and even the Mayflower in three-dimen- sions. Pictures were drawn to depict the homes, churches, food, and cloth- ing of that period. During their study of plants in Science class, the fourth grade children col- lected seeds and grew seed plants. Some of the results are shown here. Sister Monica Marie is giving one of the award ribbons for the best plant. Awards were also given to the best Seed collection. The pupils of Mrs. J. Van Haverbeke's third grade are shown wo rking on planters which they gave their parents for Christmas. On the boards behind the pupils are pictures made of tex- tiles. All pictures are made fromthe same pattern to show how the diffe- rent materials used can give different effects. Aeti nn I 11.-
