You are the first to benefit from the numerous sacrifices generously made so that you may r e c eive a complete spiritual, intellectual, and physical formation. Your parents and teachers and priests are c onfid en t that you will use well your opportunities to become fervent Catholics and God- fearing citizens, of whom they can be rightfully proud. Often I look back to the wonderful days of my boyhood and fondly reflect how much of my priestly pursuits have been crowned with suc- cess because of the basic and fundamental lessons and attitudes I received from the most whole- some and grace filled atmosphere possible to man - His Parish. The impression made on ones youth can never be eradicated and forms the basis for his entire life no matterhow many be the number of his years or the number of miles that separate him from home. Hence with frequent prayers of thanksgiving and gratitude I look back to Immaculate Conception Parish from whose first happiness my priestly happiness increases each day. To all the students of Catholic High School I wish the same blessings of youth that I so enjoyed and will always cherish. Always remember that your school and your parish is often what you make it. Stay close to them, cooperate with them for they are actual graces Which will st eady you during any future crisis. G. .IESUIT HIGH SCHOOL 3812 Oak Lawn Avenue DALLAS 19, TEXAS February 19 , 1959 Dear Students of C.H.S.: During our day of recollection we reviewed together many basic t ruths of our Catholic Faith: The 'end of man, man's relationship to God, to his fellow men and to him s e lf. We considered the many gifts of God to each of us as an individual, as a member of our wonderful family, as a student in a great High School and a citizen of the terrific City of Big T, U.S.A. We followed in the path of wise men of the past who said, To be truly wise, 'Know Thyself '. From our private space platform with our high powered telescope, we saw ourselves for the first time as God sees us and as those who deal with us see us. Then studying the personality of Christ and comparing our findings to our s el ve s, we learned how close we are to fulfilling our end, becoming Other Christs. I sincerely believe that you are better prepared now to face the many problems that do come up inateenager's life and intelligently solve them with the help of Monsignor McCullough, his ex- cellent staff at C.H.S. and your wonderful parents .
