ANGELI TE DUCANT Six simple candlesticks standing watch about an unpretentious coffin-a line of students-their parents-friends of a short time-the bowed, veiled heads of her sisters in religion reflecting the prayers of all--the peaceful serenity of her countenance which mirrored the contented repose of a soul now enveloped in the paternal mantle of Divine Love-in her hands a crucifix, the stark symbol of the life to which she had dedicated herself as a young woman years before when, garbed as a spouse of Christ, she had vowed eternal fidelity to the coun- sels of poverty, chastity, and obedience-these are reflections of the final scenes of tribute humbly paid to Sister Miriam Rose CSC., who had come to Bishop Gorman, providentially it would seem, to leave with us a dramatic lesson of love and service to God. Her opportunity to teach in the classroom was short-lived, from September to December, but her final calling to serve her Divine Master has taught us an appreciation of devotion, self-sacrifice, and the need to be pre- pared, as she was, for our only real eternal duty-union with God. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, is our prayer, together with the hope that her spirit may still guide us.
