John rearranges his locker. trackstcrs get in shape. I must quit this constant worrying. Look what it has done to my hair. s “The trouble with many of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism.” Anon. So we come to the end of another school year. Many speak of the end as something that is over, forgotten, something that will probably not be re- membered again. But we speak of the end, as the beginning. The beginning of a new life. One where we are left alone to make decisions that will decide our future. Yes, we must move on. We are adults now, ready to face the life that we were prepared for. Ready to meet our chal- lenges of tomorrow. But, once again, it is left up to us whether they will be challenges or merely things that we let pass by smoothly. Will we take life easily or do our best to im- prove ourselves, to make America an even better place to live. t For there are long roads ahead, there are many beautiful schools, many beautiful people and many days of searching. And amidst all this, we are still only ourselves, only individuals, and only we can do something about it. And we can do something about it. Edward in the ninth grade Edward playing the bass horn in the Ranger Band. IN MEMORY OF EDWARD HUGO BEYER Spec. 4, United States Army A 1966 graduate of BFH PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord, wc pray for golden peace. Peace all over the land. May all men dwell in liberty. Walking hand in hand. Keep all men forever one. One in love and grace. Wipe away all war and strife. Give freedom to each race. Let your justice reign supreme And righteousness be done. Let goodness rule the hearts of men And evil be overcome. Refrain: Banish fear and ignorance. Hunger, thirst, and pain: Banish hate and poverty. Let no man live in vain: Let no man live in vain. -Sebastian Temple Spec. 4 Edward Beyer, U.S.A. killed in Vietnam This “Prayer for Peace” is offered here as a tribute to Edward Hugo Beyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Beyer of Schulcnburg, who was killed in Vietnam on April 9, 1970. A graduate of Bishop Forest High School, Edward en- tered the army on May 5, 1969, and less than a year later was killed while on guard duty shortly after midnight. Edward entered Bishop Forest High School as a freshman in 1962 and continued as a student here until his grad- uation on May 22, 1966. He followed the regular high school course of study, with four-year membership in the Ranger Band as his main extracurricular interest. He also played with the Tclstars during his last three years of high school. Edward’s teachers and schoolmates remember him as a quiet young man, who was always helpful. His friendliness, too, is remembered by those who knew him. The student body of Bishop Forest salutes you, Edward, and we pray that “no man live in vain” or die in vain. Geraldine, a 1971 graduate of Bishop Forest High School, contributed more than her share toward the betterment of our school. As a member of last year's graduating class, she took an active part in the senior play. Through her four years of high school, she was a member of the Kangerettes and the Library Club and served as vice president of the Library Club her senior year. Because she was truly a dedicated person, we of the student body be- lieve that our own school life was enriched because of Geraldine’s presence among us.
