Neiheisel Best Of Luck! You came five years ago. You had no idea what to e xpect. Well is it anything that you expected? Is it any different than what you had before? You were a change for us. Your predecessor was here for eight years and was very close to so many people. It took a while but you have replaced him. You have become a big part of Fenwick and will be taking so much away. We, the Turres Staff, speaking for the whole school wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and we want you to know that you will be missed. as aS + 4 1 NES 4 ; te Varsity (1 to r) Row 1: Coach Martin, Coach Jester, Mgr. Ken also qualified for the state meet where he finished an impressive 14th. GOLF The 78-79 season was a very successful one. The Falcons won the District and the right to compete in the State Finals. The team members are: (1 to r) Jeff Novak; Father Shearer, Coach; Bob Downey; Vic Curtis; Greg Amatulli; Jim Snyder; and Mark Augspurger. The Big Bopper's charges ran a strong season, and many members of the team took it all in the Sectionals to win a ride to Dayton for the District meet. But it was Anne Marie who went all the way to Columbus, qualifying in both the hurdles and the 440 yard contest. All the long practices and late hours paid off in another fine season for the Fenwick girls. NET a ROR TH A al op te. tT (O) SOoOnmnnen S Learning about life from our experiences is a big part of education. The Mission Club takes this to heart by their service activities in the community. The special effort of inviting Senior Citizens to Fenwick for a mass and Thanksgiving Dinner is just an example. The annual trip to Appalacia helps members see life from another vantage point. The club sponsors events like the annual Halloween Dance and the Father- Daughter Dance. Both events not only raise money which is used for mission work, but provide a good time and a memorable occasion for all involved. French Club From cheese and french bread on a picnic at Fort Ancient to an elegant lunch at Edwards you have a description of the French Club and their activities. The main event of the year though is the Christmas meal-prepared by club members. This years menu was Cog au Vin finished with a dessert Bouche de Noel. Members of the club are past and present French students. 87 It’s Academic Fenwick was well represented again this year in the ''It's Academic!'! television competition. Seniors Chris Lauer and Mark Haker and Junior Dan Moore led the way with a first round victory in the area ae : wide program sponsored by r ae LE rn eae the Proctor and Gamble Co. The squad was rounded out by alternates Beth Flanagan and Ann Schramn. The season came to a sudden end with a playoff loss to Connor and Reading. Sister Constance, Falcon team advisor spent several months practicing with the team, covering questions about science, math and the humanities in preparation for the grueling competition. Sports, features, interviews, school T news of every kind and description filled the pages of a this years Talon. The bimonthly ] paper directed by Mrs. Sue Orr, printed ''all the O news that's fit to print'' in an effort to keep students and n faculty up to date on current events. All newspapers depend on the efforts of a great many people, and the Talon is no exception. Unsung heroes like staff typist Brigitte Siefert and Business Manager Ann Klosterman are as important as the big name writers with their own ''by- line''., But everything depends on the Editor-in- Chief, and this year the Talon had one of the best in Kazuo Cottrell whose hard work brought it all together. e S We started at the beginning of the school year. We worked until July. We kept going when we were so fed up with seeing the interior of the yearbook room. We have given this book our best and are proud of what we have created. There is no way you will ever know the amount of time put in on this book. We hope you appreciate the way we have tried to capture the year 1978-79. Gourmet Club Hotdogs cooked in beer! How does that sound for a meal made by experts? Well these guys aren't really experts but they are working on it. WHAT I DO TODAY IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE I’M TRADING A DAY IN MY LIFE FOR IT. WHEN TOMORROW COMES THIS DAY WILL BE GONE FOREVER. LEAVING BEHIND SOMETHING I’VE TRADED FOR IT. I WANT IT TO BE GAIN, NOT LOSS ... GOOD, NOT EVIL ... SUCCESS, NOT FAILURE ... IN ORDER THAT I SHOULD NEVER FORGET THE PRICE I PAID FOR IT. “Il AM THIRD” GALE SAYERS Farewell to you and the youth | have spent with you. It was but yesterday we met in a dream. You have sung to me in my aloneness, and I of your longings have built a tower in the sky. But now our sleep has fled and our half waking has turned to fuller day, and we must part. If in the twilight of memory we should meet once more, we shall speak again together and you shall sing to me a deeper song. And if our hands should meet in another dream we shall build another tower in the sky. “Pet “Ly LB g f (7 a i KE A ie C be od Ub ty. Ob tort fe v j ¥ ee v¥ lroucdt | iy b, $4YG ef e.
