Children - a well-known circumstance - Speak French extremely well in France; Their accent, to the wondering ear, Is perfect, and their diction clear. But when I watch them at their play, They might be kids in Deal, N.J. Like boys and girls one sees about At home, they tumble, run, and shout; Like others of their age and ilk, They dote on sweets, they strive on milk; 7 They are, their mothers sadly sigh, With strangers always very shy. PETITS BEBES, as here they're styled, Cry very like my neighbor's child. I, noting thus what's said and done, Judge the world is, or should be, one; It is the planet's blackest blot That it should be - and that it's not. e 9 (© Zz 7 LU 2 LL Z OR OD CO GO BUYING BARTERING, = ro = 5 E bs ie ——_-- anni ROE ae Soe Sister Diane Mersch METRICS, MULTIPLES, MONOMIALS ... e EXPOSITORY, E.E. Time is God's tool,- only a stream To float our: desires through life's dream. We spend moments of love,-hours in repentance. Days at play,-weeks working for acceptance. Months to achieve while facing years of rejection. Spending a lifetime, we seldom pause for reflection. Whither go I? From whence have I come? Why do I march so? Who's beating the drum? What did I achieve? When will I receive my reward? Patience, man, patience!! You've just served the Lord. In the rooms and at the games and down the halls; never one without the other. And this is how they willalways be remembered; a man and his companion, a dog and his master. It was as if they waited all day for you to stop in, to pet the dog, or talk to the man because college is nearing and you think you'd rather take both chemistry and physiology and where can you fit it in? And he always helped you out because besides old Sam, that was most important to him. He said, ''Glad to see you, how's it: going? What can I do to help you?'! because he really knew how rough it was and he really , really cared. ''Stop in and see me anytime, I'm always here! he said. Because he shared his whole life, and don't you wish you could have shared a little more of yours with him? Then maybe you wouldn't think of him as being so lonely. Because he wasn't really, if you count how much the students really liked him even if they didn't let it show. And now because you know he's gone, you wish you had let him know, only what can be done now that it's too late? Don't worry, he knows. And you can even tell him thanks now, for helping you make it through Fenwick, and for being your friend. Because he hasn't stopped listening. No, nothing could stop Mr. Sweeney from listening. The Talon was, undoubtedly, the most consequential. A sounding board for students and faculty, the eagerly awaited monthly paper had its highlights and hardships. Under the paternal care of David Ludden, the Talon made it through criticisms, copy errors, lack of fund, life endangering editorials, and frequent mispronunciations (i.e. Talcon). Talon staff - typists, photographers, backers, reporters, advisor and (last and most important) editor-in-chief - we are impressed. And, coming from this staff, you know that is our highest praise. The TALON The Fenwick High School Student Newspaper The TALON is published monthly by the students of Fenwick High School. Well before the century ends, thousands of men and women who are now youngsters will share the tasks in the sky made possible by America’s space shuttles. They will be pioneers on a new frontier. But space is not the only challenge. Others lie on earth in the creation of new systems of energy, transportation, housing, communications, agriculture and education. With these will come new industries, new services, new professions and new skills. New books will be written. There will be new music and paintings— thousands of new records will be set. Meeting these challenges will call for high levels of excellence, self-discipline, rigorous training and thorough education. The reward will be high adventure—a motive our pioneer ancestors could understand. Armco materials are in the space shuttles, and Armco products and services will help America meet the other challenges. How about you?
