Dwenger: Something For Everyone In keeping with Dwenger ' s tradition for scholastic excellence, the school ' s administration offered an unpara- lelled academic program. Along with the usual history, science, English, math, home economics, music, and business courses, many new honors courses were added. Many gifted stu- dents enjoyed the challenge of par- ticipating in an honors course. The freshmen were initiated into high- school-level work while many sen- iors staggered under the load of weighted classes. While some seniors prepared for vocations, others looked forward to college. The infamous col- lege-prep course, which every stu- dent cursed while he took but after- ward acknowledged its helpfulness, accustomed seniors to college-level work. Other courses aided students in their college preparation. In addition to and suplementing the fine academic program at Dwenger, the high quality BD teaching staff made this year a truly outstanding one. Lending their support and knowledge, teachers, advisers, and coaches urged and encouraged stu- dents to always strive to give 100%. A great debt is owed the teachers who took a special interest in the students and gave their time and leadership in the form of activities. Teachers also had to adjust to the snow days and fog days, no matter how much they upset the lessen plan! 12 Opening

The 1980 Homecoming was a huge success! During the day, a record crowd of students participated in the festivities. Students got involved in pudding-eating, best leg, egg-throwing, Cakewalk, and other con- tests. In the evening, there was a large turn-out for the football game. Even though we lost to North Side, the excite- ment of the evening was not lost. At half- time, prom queen Beth Shubert was crowned. After the game, many couples attended the homecoming dance.
