Suzie, Marijo and Carol ponder Mrs. Gloman ' s easier questions. l7 1 1 ' -IJ ' Tom Schall is amused as he studies for one of Mr. Colvin ' s Earth Science tests. Mrs. Gloman ' s classes learn from Mr. Pat Bolman of the joys and frustrations encountered in conservation work. Two new members joined the staff of the Bishop Dwenger Science Depart- ment. Sr. Renee, along wth her duties in the Math Department, assisted Mr. Colvin in Chemistry. Mr. Loney, a new face to the Science Depart- ment, but not to B.D. aided Sr. The- resa Marie and Mr. Walker, in teach- ing one sophomore biology class. Mrs. Gloman, head of the department, ini- tiated the first Science Club in the school — The Scientific Saints. Var- ious speakers and projects added to the curriculum of the year. Cheryl Branning finds out that setting a broken arm is not as easy as it looks. By the expression on Jim ' s face, it seems apparent that Murphy ' s laws are still in existance. 26 ACADEMICS

Language Opens New Worlds The Bishop Dwenger language depart- ment was joined by one new face this year. Mrs. Simmons, head of the depart- ment, welcomed Mrs. Reily to the lan- guage staff. Mrs. Teusch, Mr. Tierney and Mr. Weber instructed students not only in the Spanish language but also in the culture. Mr. Weber and his German students, along with the other language classes, frequently took advantage of the expanding language lab. When the bell rings even Mr. Tierney is over-anxious to get out of class. Just a minute — Nancy it ' s for you. These first year German students learn some of the heritage through the songs. With the help of Mrs. Teusch, these Spanish students delve into one of Peggy Offerle, Terry Schuster, and Kathy Rownd realize that Ger- Spain ' s great cities. many hasn ' t changed over the last year. 28 ACADEMICS
