Students proudly display their winnings from the Novemberfest. The German club was active in competi- tion this year, participating in the Novem- berfest at U. T. A. in November. The Novemberfest included competition in classical and folk music, costume design, cooking, art, dramatic interpretation, bik- ing, and root beer guzzling. The club members distinguished themselves by bring- ing back three first place trophies, and also second and third place ribbons. Members outstanding in this effort were Janie McDermott, Patricia Dellon, Catherine Baker, Bryan Kelly, Lisa Hesch, and Irela Torres. The club has had several recrea- tional activities including a Christmas and Halloween party, a skating party, a trip to the Bavarian Steak House, and a going away party for the Seniors. The club's major fund raising project was a raffle for a German 10- speed bicycle . 103 J we ,Avg u',',, 9 1- Wx an . Q Q :W 2' y, EQ. But as always, one must take a closer look at the games to see a true picture of the effort displayed by the 1973 team. Many of the losses can be attributed to the team being unable to take advantage of breaks and injuries to key players. Bishop Dunne students and fans can rest assured that our boys will come back next year with all the enthusiasm and spirit to carry them through to a brighter season. In district, they took second behind Jesuit. In State com- petition, they took 4th against the toughest competition ever. The girls team was quite successful , considering their small number. The girls won 87070 of the races they entered , but because of their number had a 2 win-6 loss record . DONN IE Week 4 I 3 0 IN FOUR YEARS BOB PARSONS HAS DONE GREAT THINGS FOR BISHOP DUNNE. HIS INITIATIVE. ENTHUSIASM. AND KNOW HOW HAVE BROUGHT THE BAND TO THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. IN THE FEW YEARS WE HAVE KNOWN HIM. HE HAS TRANSFORMED THE BAND FROM A TWELVE MEMBER DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS TO A PROFESSIONAL MARCHING BAND. HIS DYNAMIC SPIRIT HAS INFUSED HALF-TIME, PEP RALLIES, AND SPECIAL SPRING CONCERTS. FOR THESE REASONS. THE I974 MITRE STAFF FEELS IT IS TIME TO GIVE LONG OVERDUE RECOGNITION TO A VERY DEDICATED MAN WHO HAS BECOME A VERY BIG PART OF BISHOP DUNNE. THIS GESTURE: HOWEVER, REPRESENTS JUST A SMALL PART OF THE GRATITUDE STUDENTS AND FACULTY HAVE FOR THE UNTIRING EFFORTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OUR BAND DIRECTOR. BOB PARSONS.
