WE T VIRGINIA The Veritas staff wishes to devote these pages in hon- or of our state's 100th birth- day. West Virginia officially became a state June 20, 1862. Its first capitol was Linsley lnstitute in Whee- ling. Charleston later became the permanent seat of government in 1885. The Little Mountain State, as it is sometimes called, abounds in scenic beauty and wildlife. Because of this it has long been a favorite among tourists and sportsmen alike. The chief products of West Virginia are coal, oil, glassware, and chemicals. Our state, with its rolling hills and sprawling valleys, unceasingly inspires within the hearts of her people, a feeling of warmth and security, and intemal pride. CE TENNIAL
