Freshmen enter intrepidly B ► emg a freshman is finding oneself in a sea of unfamiliar faces; some friendly, but most seemingly not. It is becoming familiar with the school building, the library, the gym, the lockers, and the lunchroom. It is just learning to find one ' s way around with- out being a bother to everyone. It is trying to get to know the various teachers and to anticipate their every mood by trying to do your work satisfactorily so as not to incure their displeasure. In short, it is trying to please without making it look like you are the teacher ' s pet. Being a freshman is being looked down upon by the upper classmen and trying to be friendly, studious, and cooperative. It is learning to study harder than you did in grade school and to pass tests in order to get good grades. To be a freshman is to accept responsibility and to learn to become a Christian gentleman so that you can become a good representative of your school. Sophs face year of change I he sophomore year is a year of change. It is taking a more active role in the school. The freshman year is a year of learn- ing, of being new and watching the upper classmen and learning what is proper. In becoming a sophomore, you are no longer new to your surroundings. There is another class below watching and learning. Sopho- mores are thrust into new roles as teachers and therefore need to be more responsible for their actions. Term papers were written for the first time for history and English classes and two Vietnamese refugee students attended some sophomore classes. Sophomores move slowly up. As the page is turned on the grade book of life, the only difference is two hundred new faces called freshmen. At the end of the year it is two down and two to go. Sophomores come in third in everything from Field Day to regis- tration for Try- It-Week. The outside world is still far away when looking to the end of a high school career. Tfc ftft 82 SOPHS
