Thieneman Freshmen seated in the gym LEFT TO RIGHT: M. Green- well, B. Miles, B. Gant, B Beck, K. Mattingly, T. Hassen, K. Cooper, C. Hutti, D. Hicks. I was really terrified at first! L unng the sixth period on Friday, Sept. 5, 1975, all freshmen were called to the gym for their first pep rally. Freshman, Tony Chandler, recalls that day. As we entered the dark gym, we had to walk through a winding wall of upperclassmen. It felt like we were being led to the slaughter. We were led to the center of the gym and that big wall closed in on us. One thing that scared us the most was that everyone was so quiet. Suddenly, a quiet voice arose from the midst of the crowd. It was our princi- pal, Mr. Moll. As he spoke, he told us about B.D. pride and we all got excited because we did have that pride. When he told us what we had to do to become part of the B.D. communi- ty, we all thought it would be easy. But when we sounded off our freshman battle cry, the upperclassmen said it wasn ' t good enough and that it didn ' t show our pride. They proceeded to show us how to do the battle cry the right way, and we never forgot it. Our class proved it had pride by showing it in the cheering sections the rest of the year. Ti 79 FROSH
