Goal: break 500 In the first clash with Catholic rival, De- Sales, the Falcons fell in a close game 2-1. After more close-game losses to Manual, Butler, St. X, Providence, and J- Town, but crushing wins over Atherton and Fairdale, the Falcons had an 8-8 record with a tough game ahead with their district nemesis, P. R.P. for the first match up with them of the season. The team suffered a disappoint- ing loss— 1 2-6. They lost the next game to a powerful Trinity club 11-1, setting their record back to 8 and 10. They beat Western but lost to Shawnee and Butler giving them a 9-12 rec- ord. But the Falcons, undiscouraged, set their goal at breaking 500 and winning the - - upcoming district playoffs. The Falcons beat Stuart in a double- header and ensuing victories over Iroquois, Ballard, Ahrens, Central, and Thos. Jeffer- son, with only one loss to Valley, gave the team a more impressive record of 17-13. The team went to the city finals and lost a heartbreaker to rival, DeSales. A rained-out game at Jeffersonville and a victory over Lanesville, Indiana, brought their record to 18-13 while the Falcon team awaited the District draw. The draw for the first round paired the team with area rival, P. R.P., who had beaten the Falcons earlier in the season. The team lost that first game, but the team gained experience as they finished the season with a winning record.
