■ State champs given quite a scare by visiting Falcons The next game was against regional foe, Central, who out-muscled B.D. to an 80-53 win. After that, the team played Bethhaven who proved to be no match for the more experienced Falcons. The Falcons drubbed them, 94-46. The team had a rematch with Doss and lost again by only one point, then defeated Atherton, 74-49. The team beat old rival, Butler, in a close 46-44 game and then lost to a powerful No. 1-ranked Male team after being down by only one point at half time. In February the team and a few loyal fans and faculty members traveled to Edmonson County, never suspecting they would be seeing the eventual Kentucky state champs in action. The basketballers again put up a valiant fight, in a game that was close for the first three quarters, but ended up on the short end of the score. Bishop David was the only Jefferson County team played by Ed- monson County during the regular season, keeping up a traditional rivalry that went back several years. After going into overtime with Iroquois, the team missed on three straight field goal attempts and lost 63-59. They then defeated Jeffersontown. The final game of the season, against Valley, was probably their best, with David Tierney scoring 16 points and Kevin Alexander grabbing 19 rebounds for the 61-59 win.
