A razzle-dazzle pass, one of only three completed passes, caught the Falcons off guard and gave the opponent their first points of the season. Nevertheless, it was a victory and an inspiration to the team. BUTLER — Another county rival, Butler, invaded Manual Stadium to take on the 6-0 Falcons. In a game played in dense fog, the Falcons held the Bears to fifteen yards rush- ing, while B.D. picked up 162 yards on the ground. The Bears had to be totally con- vinced as the Falcons rolled, 32-0. DOSS - At the Dragons ' home stadium, the weather on that early afternoon was, to say the least, almost unbearable. A steady drizzle turned the gridiron into a mud pud- dle. The Falcon offense was hampered by the rain and only crossed the goal line once. Although the defense held Doss to one first down, the Dragons were able to cross for the tying score. With little time remain- ing, Senior, Audie Milliner, kicked a long field goal to give the Falcons the winning edge and escape with its eighth victory with no defeats. TRINITY — The Shamrocks were to be the best team faced yet by the Falcons. They came to the Fairgrounds Stadium with only one loss to defending state champs, St. X. The Bishop David players remembered last year ' s defeat at their hands, and had blood in their eyes for revenge. From the start, Bishop David took control. The de- fense shut off Trinity ' s passing game as they completed only 5 of 19 with 4 interceptions. Their running game was ineffective and the Falcons shut out the Shamrocks demon- strating their awesome power. The offense was nearly perfect, gaining 144 yards on the ground, while quarterback, Phil Mingus, completed 5 of 5 passes for nearly 100 yards. This seventh shutout victory was most satisfying and Bishop David made believers out of many. CENTRAL - The mighty Falcons simply rolled over the hapless Yellowjackets com- piling over 300 total yards while scoring 5 touchdowns. B.D. looked ready for serious contention. The defense was dominating, holding Central to minus 14 yards on the ground and only 20 in the air for a total of 6 yards gained. The defense also picked off 5 Yellowjacket passes while completing their eighth shutout.

Half way through the Butler game at Manual Stadium it looked as if the game would be called off due to the fog. It was difficult to see the other side of the field, much less the yard markers, when the fog descended on the night of the game. Our passing attack, however, was not thwarted by the murky mist. Except for this game and the Doss mud bowl game, the weather during the season was generally good. TOP: Phil Mingus comes up with the ball over the goal line as the referees signal a Falcon T.D. at the Butler game. LEFT: David Geraghty wipes the mud from his face during a time out at the Doss game. ABOVE: Quarterback, Phil Mingus, hurls this sideline pass to end.
