Wcathc m It was like getting up in the middle of the night and going to school. When daylight saving time ended in October and the days grew shorter during those long November and December months, students and faculty members found themselves in the dark. Lighting the classrooms was a necessity for it seldom grew light until well into the first period classes. For students who were not fortunate to be left off at the door of the school by parents or car pool drivers, contending with the other elements like rain and snow was also a bother. The only ones spared these headaches were the teaching brothers whose residence was attached to the main school building. The elements never affected their trip to class. €1 o LEFT: The walk from the bus stop on Dixie High- way was always a long one on rainy mornings for sophomore, John Tucker. IA A A Busing was not something new for a lot of Catholic school students. Most students traveled several miles each day from Valley Station, Pleasure Ridge Park and from closer to the heart of the city down 18th Street. TARC was a lifesaver for these students, mostly underclassmen, who did not have a driver ' s license or could join a car pool. Students were also subjected to bus rides for field trips and, if they were members of an athletic team, rides to away games. Bus trips were also arranged for fans to football games at Manual stadium and the cost was included in the price of the ticket. However, in all these situations students never had to be guarded by National Guards- men although in the fall, because of some violent demonstrations up and down Dixie Highway, everyone was on edge. The only serious confrontation the school experienced was several bomb threats in late September. Other than that, things sailed smoothly at B.D. in an otherwise turbulant and controversy-filled year. iTfc On the afternoon of Sept. 12, 1975, the Falcon football fans went to Western and played a game under heavy guard.
