Reichelt Baccalaureate mass is a | he Baccalaureate Mass was held on Sunday, May 9, 1976 at the Cathedral. The mass was said by Rev. James F. Hackett. This was the first chance the seniors had to wear their caps and gowns and march together. The procession was led by Junior Class Officers, David Minton and Mark Gillespie. The seniors were fol- lowed Aq the faculty, also dressed in aca- demic garb. This was the beginning of the end for the seniors, the final leg of their four-year journey. For some it was a time of re- joicing, for others a time of sadness, for most it was probably a mixture of both. Fr. Hackett said in his homily, We often dread endings and try to postpone them ... we try to forget or disguise them. Yet endings are both unavoidable and profoundly important. After the mass, the seniors and their guests were feted by the Mothers ' Club in the cafeteria and were served punch and cake. At this time, each senior received a composite picture of the graduation class. Donald P. Robbins Thomas P. Robbins Mark L. Schooler

After four years wait it was V n May 16, 1976, in this bicentennial year, at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Auditorium, 118 seniors graduated. Bishop Charles G. Maloney conferred the diplomas, with Mr. John Moll and Mr. Gerald Wilkinson assist- ing, and gave a short address after Mr. Moll delivered the formal graduation address. Mr. Moll ' s was a very moving talk. During a memorable moment he read a letter written to him by a senior who wished to thank all his teachers, especially his senior teachers. With the ceremonies complete, the presi- dent and vice-president of the senior class, Phil Mingus and Ron Borders, took down the school banner and presented it to the junior class officers, David Minton and Mark Gillespie. The graduating class of ' 76 then marched out of the auditorium with memo- ries of their four years together and then went their separate ways. 4 S FAR RIGHT: The customary handshake goes with the diploma as Bishop Maloney graduates Tim Jacobi. RIGHT: Putting on his cowl prior to the graduation ceremony, senior teacher, Bro. Roland Driscoll, seems suspiciously happy on this occa- sion. Larry Spear Donald J. Thornberry Donnie P. Stevenson David M. Tierney Thomas J. Strange David W. Vitt Gregory E. Thieneman Robert P. Wessel 108 SENIORS
