Dr. M. Christine Gilmore Division Chairperson Division of Business and Economics Mrs. Annette Flowers The Division of Business and Economics recognizes the wide variety of interests of its student body and believes that its program must provide options which meet these diverse needs. Due to the expanding and changing business environment of the nation and in order to prepare competent young men and women to be successfully employed in this environment the objectives of the division are: 1. To provide basic preparation for further study in graduate school in advanced business and economics areas, including a basic foundation in the liberal arts. 2. To provide educational opportunities for developing the basic conceptual and technical skills necessary for successful employment in business, industry, and government. 3. In cooperation with the Division of Education, to provide training and development of competencies for teachers of business courses on the secondary level. A student planning to major in any business or economics field should plan his schedule carefully and follow the degree plan for his major. A student has the responsibility to organize his degree plan of study after consultation with the catalogue and his faculty advisor. A copy of this degree plan will be filed with the advisor and should be reviewed periodically by the student with his faculty advisor. In order to graduate from the Division of Business and Economics, the student must earn at least 30 hours of credit in courses taught by the Division, obtain a “C average or better in Mathematics 111 and 112, and complete the Undergraduate program for Counseling and Evaluation Test and or the National Teachers Examination for business majors and the Graduate Record Examination for economics majors.
