really excited about the idea and eight faculty and eight students were elected to the board. the retirement of mrs. peddecord brought tears to many of us at the assembly held in her honor february 7. troy horine and pat busch presented mrs. peddecord with an am-fm-stereo radio on behalf of stuco and mr. weinmann gave airline tickets and lifetime activity tickets to mrs. peddecord on behalf of the faculty. retirement didn't keep her away though, as she came back frequently to help out and work with the alumni. o.s.o.m. fopen season on malesl week brought about little reaction from students although the sweetheart dance was accepted by most. sports history! the carroll eagle's basketball team was going to state! wrestling finished behind k-mc for second and the girl's sports scored fair in their seasons. the for- ensics squad cleaned up every place they traveled. state playoffs brought problems as cheerleaders were required to make a choice between the state playoffs and the ski-trip, march 13, 14 and 15. on the way to colorado, many of us listened to the bus radio and heard the eagles defeat the highland park scotties, they later went on to finish fourth in the state 4-a compe- tion with a 13-13 record. winter closed with the unforgettable production of 'godspellf large crowds were turned away at the door necessitating an encore performance. enthusiasm was somewhat low for the mission club's talent-dollar project, as the talents were increased only two times. a surprise assembly sponsored by stuco and the admini- tion got spring off to a good start. we were really excited that we could start off school with an 8 a.m. concert by 'free fare.' the following evening, most of us liked the concert by the rock group, while others didn't. requests for a 50's dance brought about the 50's evening, which included a movie and'disc-jockey.' stuco termed it more or less a success, even though upper- Ci2iSSl'T16l1 21ttCfldCnC6 WHS SCBFCC. spring sports finished with fair seasons and the girls' track team along with the baseball squad posted out- standing records. occasional blackouts occurred during warm weather as the tired generators couldn't handle the pull created by the air conditioning. flashes of green and gold brightened the faces of juniors as they received their rings and soon realized carroll high, would, within a year, become a memory. hard work by a lot of juniors resulted in a memorable prom for the seniors, centering around the theme of friends. prom-goers found that the 'fontaine-bleu' pro- vided a memorable place for this event. most underclassmen stuck around school the last few weeks after the seniors left, cramming for finals or just enjoying the weather. on may 18 the baccalaureate and graduation were held, and for seniors, carroll became a thing of the past. summer was rapidly coming upon usg the year had gone quickly, as school years often do. within. . . peopie ..... page ten discovery ..... page thirty two in voivement ..... page fifty two faces ..... page se venty eight competition ..... page one hundred sixteen ll I , .ililki 7 'vii my, Q 'Ilan . -...
