Backing the Lancers at the homecoming game Hoops ’85 The 1984-85 Lancers enjoyed a progressive season that shows promise for the future of all the players. Team play was the key factor that allowed the Lancers to surprise some teams. Looking for the open man and rebounding were strongly stressed by Coach Magee. The players include Joe McCarthy, Craig Rafferty, Randy Michak, Chris Smith, Art Allen, Orlando Bravo, Carlos Torres, Dean Collins, Rafi Gelpi, Barry Franklin, Paul Pison, Alan Quinn. Coaches: Frank Mannion, Tim Little. Seniors Magee gives instructions Magee sets up his strategy J.V. Basketball The 1984-85 Junior Varsity squad a successful season portraying a 15-5 record. The future of these Lancers looks promising. They have a lot of potential and play well together. Members; Paul Pison, Bary Franklin, Alan Quinn, Orlando Bravo, Carlos Torres, Rafi Gelpi, Mike Swearinger, Gary Lemasters, Frank Ruffalo, Jack Caraccialo. Coach: Tim Little 57 Girls Basketball A young “Lady Lancer” squad enjoyed a surprisingly successful season in 1984- 85. The inexperience of the girls, however, did not stop them from making the playoffs. One of the bigger games of the season came versus St. Francis. The 48- 44 victory over that first place team secured a spot in the playoffs for the Lancers. The exciting one point victory over Jefferson Morgan ensured the Lancers a second round playoff game with Monessen. The Lancers battled the entire game only to lose 59-49. They wrapped up the season with ten wins, twelve loses. The future looks bright for the Lancers. This year’s squad can look forward to playing together for at least the next two years.
