Memory, images and precious thoughts, that shall not die and cannot be destroyed. - Wordsworth - There is a piece of our lives here that we can never forget. We have our fire drills and study halls, cafeteria and assemblies, bells and water fountains like other schools. We have a Student Council, the National Honor Society and clubs to keep us to- gether. ..dances...pep rallies.. .basketball, foot- ball, wrestling, baseball, golf... above all we have SCHOOL SPIRIT. And we have MEMORIES like no other students in the world have...WE ARE BOYLE.

SUMMER And so it was that the year gone by had never really ended. Ten months of experiences continued through the summer break for the hundreds of Boyle students. Football, which in- volves a quarter of the male population of Boyle and the interest of the other three quarters, kept the ball moving as the buses rolled for ex- hausting practices at McBride Park. 500 yards of dry dust, hot sun, and demanding coaches barking out orders and advice to the team that made Boyle in '71. Linemen, backs, and coach- es went through the motions of offensive and defensive plays, preparing for the first scrim- mages weeks away. Above the United Candy Store on Eighth Avenue began another summer happening of Boyle students--practice for the marching and concert season of the Lancer Band. Sessions that began on a field across from St. Michael's ended in a week-long experience of music, marching, fun, and hard work at Zelienople. Eight hours a day practicing, and practicing, and re-practicing formations that were to make the Lancer Band one of the best in the Valley. Groups lived in farmhouses, waking early in the morning to revelry and a full schedule of work. Mr. Robert Galvin, direct- or of the band, culminated the week's work with the Lancer's presence in the 1971 County Fair parade at South Park. Other students were involved in a Summer Theatre. Mr. Bobinsky directed scenes from VIRGINIA WOOLF, MAN OF LA MANCHA, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, MY FAIR LADY and other popular works. Summer jobs, though hard to come by for most, kept many of the students and faculty busy. Boyle people were scattered around the county in restaurants, libraries, golf courses, department stores and small shops. About 30 Senior girls who had nothing to do, got togeth- er one Sunday for a football game. And so the year that had ended jumped vig- orously into the next--1971-72. 10
