Noo An accomplishment is recognized - - four years of study, joy, hard- ships, and growing up are symbolized in the bestowing of a diploma on a Baragan by our guardian and chief pastor, Bishop Thomas L. N021- As the head of our diocese, Bishop Noa has received the power to rule, sanctify, and teach us, his children. Yes, many times we have looked up to him and marveled at his spiritual strength knowing in our hearts that he would always be there with his prayers and watchfulness as a true successor of the apostles. Fortified by his life in the Church, he carries into his daily works the virtues of his living and sets an example to the students of Bishop Baraga High School. RELIGIO Q -! ,1 12A 12B 11A 11B 10A 10B 9A 9B ini w Monsignor Nolan B. McKevitt A true Baragan knows the source of his own strength, his principles and his life come from membership in Christ through the Church. It has been the aim of Monsignor McKevitt to instill this knowledge in us. Not only has Monsignor stood by us in our every day difficulties, our trials, and troubles, but he has made us strong enough to realize our obligation to let our Christian personality shine forth in an un-Christ- ian world. Monsignor has shown himself patient and kindly to our youthful impulses, our failings, and our sudden reforms and most important of all has shown us our way to happiness in this life as well as the next. JNSTRUCTORS ANOTHER DAY'S CLASSES OVER . . . A get-together seems to be in order as our Religion instructors Father Casanova, Father Gibbs, Father Harris, Father Sartorelli, Father Donnelly, and Father Hartman meet after a morning's class. BLUE BOOKS IN MONDAY - The office, the headquarters for Baraga faculty, is having a busy day as in structors - Sister Theodorine, Sister Angelita Cyril, Mrs. Treado, Mr. Hamari, Sister Anne Agnes Sister Alexandra, Sister Gabriella, Sister Erna, Sister Mary Jane, and Mr. McMillan - gather to discuss school affairs. They, too, have homework and extra doses of it when grades must be recorded in the blue books frecord booksj and copied on each Baragan's report card. It seems only yesterday when we were shivering and starry-eyed Fresh- men. Time flew and our Sophomore year with its seemingly unpass- able geometry and biology were in the past. Our first year as upper- classmen was ahead of us, but in the hurry and scurry of prom, banquet, class rings, AND homework, this year too was gone with the wind. As our Senior year opened, we realized we were THE class, but, be- fore we could really get the true feeling of being on top of the heap, ' l s were underway. yearbook, class play, a nd the graduation p an ears of our lives. The arrival of the much dreaded initiation proved to be a memorable day to seniors and freshmen alike. The freshmen are envied by many seniors who wish they could return to their position, for our high school days are the best days of our life. . -1 VVJ4 sl, , , - Hal , .749 A I . g' . Here they receive information about, and, in so far as possible, experi- ence in the basic processes of many industries as well as an opportunity for creative expression in terms of industrial materials. OPERATING A BENCH SAW are Pat Manning, Jerry Jandron and Jim Lemire. MA THEMATICS, ESSENTIAL in today's world, is a required sub- ject for all Baragan freshmen. Margaret O'Neil1, Bonnie Musolf, Jane Pelissier, Tom Peterson, John Hobmeier, and Robert Matt, know equations must balance and they are exerting their brain power to balance them. IN SPEECH CLASS these boys and girls voice their opinions. Amazed and astonished when their voice is played back to them, Teresa Miszkiewicz, James Schroeger, Karen Thoren, Paul Lupton, William Kitscher, and Madelyn Laurich are able to detect their errors and correct them. THE SCHOLARSHIP TROPHY, WON EACH year by the class maintaining the highest scholastiC average throughout the year, is being eyed up by SUS Desautelle, Delva Varvil, and Judy Parent. Although scholastic ability is our foremost objective, we would be very appreciative if these freshmen could win fOr us a sports trophy. A LAST LITTLE LOOK at their work! Two activity periods each day, in which last minute details are taken care of, are very helpful on test days as a quiet time in which to brush up or snatch a last glance. Taking advantage of the time are Marjorie Seavoy, Judy Wilder and Ed Voet. I I I 1 LATIN STUDENTS decline to conjugate! This very interesting subject is also very helpful. A basic knowledge of Latin will help Nancy Gregorich, Rochelle Bertrand, Jim Smith, Kay Berandt, Dennie Bullock, and Ronald Gingras to understand English more clearly. PROJECTS OFTEN HELP to clarify a subject. Each English student planned a project which was placed on display. Here Elaine Bleau, Donna Becker, John Berandt, Rosalie Hawes, Diane Chartier, Margaret Britton, Tony Cline, and Nancy Hawkins, interested freshmen, are viewing some very skillful works of art, portraying the more vivid aspects of Treasure Island. x FIRST THE GYM SUIT then into the game! At the begin- ning of the year no one is ready when the whistle blows, simply be cause they don't remember their combination. Still having a hard time to beat the whistle are Julie Christensen, Connie Croshere, and Mary Sue Blanchard. DAY IS DONE, gone the sun! Each day Paul Schwemin, Mike Hogan, Alan Norrgard, David Ander- son, Rebecca Donnelly, Kay Francis, and Maureen Downey part with a happy goodbye. After your four years the sad last parting will come, but while you are here make every moment a happy one.
