The Christmas Pageant, depicting events before and after the Savior's birth and culmi- nating with a tableau of the Light of World in the arms of His Mother, who holds out her r o s a r y to the needy world,was backed entirely by the singing of the combined Boys' and Girls' Glee Clubs. Charlotte Brainerd took the part of Our Lady. After all, it's a man's world, and nothing in the world can compare with the deep, calm full- ness of a man's voice. The Boys' Glee Club. though only a few years old, has already begun to rival the supremacy of the Girls' Glee Clubs atBaraga. Father Otto Sartorelli trains the boys, Sister Marie Celine. the girls. 7a Soagaaf and Music has ever been one of the finest and most jealously guarded traditions in the history of the world. Here at Baraga,the Glee Clubs are carrying on that tradition as anyone who has heard them practicing for such events as the Christmas Pageant, the St. Patrick's Day Concert, or singing just for the sheer pleasure of singing will attest. The Freshmen Girls' Glee Club, al- though new, has shown the sweetness, freshness, and eagerness characteristic of the young. The Sophomore Girls. practically old hats, have been able to render surprisingly difficult songs with en- viable beauty and charm. Quick to catch on, though oftimes difficult to keep attentive, are the girls in thelunior-Senior Glee Club. Their knowledge of music, backed by their experience, enables them to blend their voices in a real tribute to this important phase of joyous living.

7a and Um! Under the direction of Sister Mary Xavier,who came to Baraga three years ago, dramatics have come to play a prominent part in our extra-curricular activities. This year was an especially busy one with the Centennial Pageant in the fall, the Christmas Pageant, and finally, the Senior Class play, A Con- necticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. The Centennial Pageant was presented in each of the seven deaneries of the Upper Peninsula as a cli- max to the first 100 Years of Growing in the Dio- cese of Marquette. In the See City of Marquette, the task of portraying the history of the diocese fell to Baraga. Members of the cathedral parish repre- sented the bishops in the final scene which pictured the Savior as the Eternal Priest. The pageant, Written by Father Thomas Ruppe, depicted events in the life of Frederick Baraga, first bishop of the diocese, and the history of priests and religious orders who have servedherethroughoutthe century.
