JOURNALISM CLUB Considering the Journalism Club is a brand new club on campus, they had an extremely successful year. Being that it was the club ' s first year. it was only fitting that the modera- tor. Mr. Sullivan, be new as well. The club ' s major project and most well known was the production of the school newspaper. The Lance. With eager, excited writers and edi- tors, they managed to get through the hard times to produce one out- standing paper after another. OFFICERS : Jackie Mollicone-Pres., Kitty O ' Connell-V. Pres., Karen Lundstrum-Sec, Jane Kelsay-Treas. KEY CLUB This year Amat saw the introduction of many new clubs. One of the most interesting clubs for boys is sponsored by the International Kiwanis Organization and is organized through high schools across the nation. Under the supervision of Mr. Murphy, the Key Club participated in many exciting activities and looks for- ward to even greater things in the future. OFFICERS: Michael Home. Jim Cleary. Dale Nelson, (not shown) Tom Cervantes LACIDEM CLUB In today ' s world, just as in ancient times, there is a need for people to enter medical professions. To answer this call, the Lacidem Club was formed. Supervised by Mr. Maltez. the Lacidem Club, in keep- ing with the medical professions ' devotion to service, has two Christian Service projects. They conducted a canned food drive for the poor, and organized a blood drive. They look forward to many such activities in the future. OFFICERS: Rudy Carrillo- Pres., Woo Kang-V. DRAMA CLUB Since olden times, people have had a need to express them- selves creatively, such as the traveling minstrel troops. Amat students aren ' t so different, therefore, the Drama Club is one of the largest clubs on campus. Aside from the performing arts such as singing and acting, production skills, such as set design, costuming, makeup and lighting are emphasized. The Christmas Show was the Drama Club ' s Christian Service project. The play included scenes from the Bible. Little Wom- en. A Christmas Carol. The Littlest Angel, and a Charlie Brown Christmas. The Drama Club ' s biggest production is the Spring Musical, which is Oscar and Hammerstien ' s Oklahoma. OFFICERS: Marianne East-Treas.. Ann Holbrow-Sec. Jeff Krause-Pres.. (not pictured) Laurie Cannon-V. Pres. FRENCH CLUB La Petite Comminaute Francaise d ' Amat is the French Club on campus. The pur- pose of the French Club is to provide a better understanding of the French lan- guage and its culture. The French Club ' s Christian Service pro- ject is to donate supplies for the homeless women of Skid Row. OFFICERS: Donna Tursini-Sec. Treas.. Maria Gonzales-V. Pres.. Mary Sulton- Pres. GIRLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The Girls Athletic Association promotes the interest in athletic activities and devel- oping participation in sports as well as teaching sportsmanship, cooperation and service by providing spirit on camnus in student body activities and by participat- ing in team sports. LATIN CLUB Bishop Amat is a school built on tradition, and one of the finer examples of this is the Latin Club. The Latin Club is devoted to building an interest in the stories of ancient Rome and the Latin language. The Latin Club is a very spirited group and enjoys many activities. The Latin Club is also very much devoted to service with three Christian Service Pro- jects. Under the supervision of Sr. Mary Conheady the Latin Club is a vital part of Amat today. OFFICERS: Lisa Maddox- Sec Treas., Roanna Mill- spaugh-Pres., Dianne Knip- ping-V. Pres. NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE The Speech Club is quickly becoming one of the most successful clubs on campus. Competing statewide, the speech and debate members learn and practice the skills of speaking, organization, interpretation, argumentation and analysis in a competitive environment. The club represents Amat at many tournaments and not only as been extremely successful this year, but foresees a great future for its members here at Amat and later in life.
