California junior Sta tesmen The California Junior Statesmen Club is a chapter of an organization that exists in order to educate, involve, and represent high school students. It is an association of politically- minded students. Some of the activities that club members will be associated with are the Fall and Spring State Conventions, regional conventions, debates, fund raisers, and other activities. The officers and their moderator are: moderator, Miss Plummer, presi' dent, Christine Martinez, vice-presi- dent, Ruben Cota, secretary, Debbie Rincon, treasurer, Dominique Bap- tiste and expansion director, Rick Rodriguez. i W... - Y l W G A A 1' - i . . . ,gvlfjx The G.A.A. is a club consisting of a pep division and an athletic division. l i Although it is a large organiza- tion, it attempts to include all l girls at Bishop Amat in activities l which serve the school and also the community. The purpose of the G.A.A. is to y arouse spirit and develop an optimistic attitude towards sports. Under the supervision of Mrs. Karen Gerhard, G.A.A. modera- tor, the club is able to systemati- cally plan its activities. The G.A.A. sponsors the Sadie Hawkins Dance and organizes the various teams. Serving the community by visiting convalese cent hospitals is one of the func- tions that club members enjoy performing. As top contenders during Pep Week, the G.A.A. demonstrates its enthusi' asm towards Bishop Amat. The G.A.A. Board and their moderator are: president, Jodie Riordan, vice-president Roberta Chavez, secretary, Kathy Molina, treasurer, Maureen Allen, historian, Susan Clifford, pep-chairman, Gail Boucher, pep co-chairman, Lor- raine Banda, pep coordinator, Mary Ann Purpura, athletic chairman, Bridget Lott, athletic co-chairman, Anne Hart- nett, and moderator, Mrs. Gerhard. CL UBS Promote Involvement Leoidem Club The Lacidem Club offers the students a chance to explore the field of medicine. The club is not interested in physicians only. lt explores a variety of fields. Nurs- ing, dentistry, veterinary medi- cine and paramedical services are all included in the clubs activities. Some of the clubs events have consisted of speak- ers, a tour of the City of Hope, a canned food drive to help the poor, and picnics. The officers and their modera- tor are: moderator, Miss Tucker, treasurer, Andrew H. Haskell, President, Traci Atwood, secre- tary, Sue Meskan, vice-presi- dent, Dave Gerwitz. Drama Club The Drama Club is one of Amat's outgoing organizations. They help their members to develop an active interest in the theater. Their members display their many talents through the production of the school musi- cals. The officers and their modera- tor, are: moderator, Mr. Dever- eaux, president, Mike Jolicoeur, vice-president, David D'Amico, secretary, Maryann McNamara, treasurer, Maria Hernandez.

Pep Club Promoting school spirit is one of the major purposes and goals of Pep Club. Along with this endeaver is the pro- motion of service and leadership, as well as a chance to improve rela- tionships with Amat stu- dents. Some of the club's major activities, besides having cheering sec- tions at the games, include: a twilight retreat, Skid Flow serv- ice project, a snow trip, a world record breaking event, picnics, and a closing banquet. The officers are: pres- ident, Gary Velsco, vice- president, Pete Posto- voit, secretaryftrea- surer, Tina Flobie, mar- shall Nancy Rodriguez. The moderator Nlr. Wag- ner. Ski Club The Ski Club, a new club on campus, hopes to teach its members the various techniques of skiing. There are a num- ber of instructors who are willing to help those who are beginning to ski. The officers are: pres- ident, Gus Aguilar, trea- surer, Debbie Eiman, secretary, Lisa Ledesmap and vice-pres- ident, Dan Barthelemy. The moderator is Mr. Schaumleffel. 150
