Just look at all those girls around him! I hear Bill Meverden is his manager and Is really making moneyl Speaking of classmates. Gerri Garblsch and her husband Ted Day really made the world news with their second set of quintuplets. Oh yes, I remember reading that too. And did you know that Joey Steinke Just divorced his third wife? Iwonder where he gets the money for all that alllmony for his kids. That poor guy! Sounds like Christine Jozwalk and Doug Carlson. They're separated for the fifth time in their 9 years of marriage. Oh, say! That was sure something the way the Braves took the World Series. They wouldn't have done it without all of Lola Westendorfb home runs. I sure wish she'd quit baseball and go back to teach'ng so the Yankees could win once more. You know, the other day I took my uniform 'n to be laundered at the Down-Town Laundry and guess who owns It. Gerri Jozwiak and Ela'ne Gureski, and Barbara Bultman's their bookkeeper! “ Way out here in Los Angelos? Yes, Elmer Relssmann sold it to them as a good piece of Real Estate, Sight-Unseen, but I guess it wasn't too good. Oh, is that so? Gerri Jozwiak was telling me that Dick Lemke and Hank Schmidt finally made It toAlaska. Alaska? What are they going to do there? Raise chickens. How about another cup of coffee? Fine! Say, Isn't that waitress Elaine Greislnger? Carol Gardner can't be far away. Took! Over there through the kitchen door--Carol's cooking. Sure enough!! We'd better finish our coffee so we catch the plane. Do you still hear from Sandl Gast? Yes, I got a letter from her last week. She's a model and she's on tour in the Belgium Congo modeling straw dresses for the tamer natives. Sounds like fun. Shall we be on our way? (Thirty minutes have gone by, and the girls are now seated on the plane.) Shirley, weren't you surprised to see Gladys Steinke as stewardess on this flight? I'm so glad she likes her job. Yes, and Imagine! Ken Knauf is our pilot! I never dreamed I'd see all most all our classmates. It sure Is wonderful! When I was talking to Ken he told me that Norm Behn Is really getting special attention because he's the first man to pilot a rocket to the moon, and plans to go back again! Did he go by himself? J No, I understand Bob Beckgr went along to see what kind of electricity they have up there. Imagine] There really are people on the moon. It sure is hard to believe. But not the way Pat Larsen states It in her newspaper column. Oh, is that right? You know the other day I received a long-distance telephone call and guess who I saw on the other end, Phyllis Chrudlmsky1 TTh is that right? Are she and Jim Block married yet? No, but they finally set the date for two years from this summer. She works in an orphanage now. Oh, that's nice. She said that Bonn!e Beversdorf is feeding chickens for Dick and Hank in Alaska. Oh, no] Say, did you watch television last night? That big match between Roger Sandqulst and Ingemar Johannson? No, I dicTr t’. It was real good. 'Roaring Roger' knocked Johannson out in the sixth round and seriously walked out of the ring, never batting an eye and I understand Chuck Kautza1s manager. Oh really? By the way, did you know Lester Umland owns the three biggest farms in Wisconsin? No, I didn't. I understand Dave Matsche just took over 'Chet and Emils' last week and was fined four times for serving minors. Oh, the last flight before vacation. Rose Laplnskl and her husband Bill Dickimn were on the'r way to Rome for their second honeymoon. Must be rich. Did you reed about George Vogel, Craig Marten. Gary McKellen. and Jack Schroeder? No, I didn't.n They formed a workingmans union so they can drink on the job. Say, wasn't that too bad about Alan Hoffman getting his leg shot off? How'd that happen? He went up In the north woods to arrest Bill Schultz for shooting the last of the long-haired elephants ! How ever, it seems that Bill was living up there alone so long that he just makes his own laws with his shotgun. Oh goodness] You know something, I really feel proud to have been Norrle Schrelber1s classmate. The most popular male actor of 196911 Ye3, isn't that nice. Say, did Pat Nelter ever marry that fellow she was engaged to? Yes she did and I understand she's very happy. Well looks like Chicago below us. Yes, Carol, it sure has been wonderful reminissing with you. Why don't you call me while you're here in Chicago? And we can get together sometime this week. Yes, I'll do that. Good-bye. Good-bye. BY Carol Resch Sh'rley Lipke J CLASS HISTORY ■Four long years till graduation. This probably was the thought of each new student as he or she strolled into Birnamwood High School on September U, 1956. There were U8 of us then and each felt as nervous as his fellow class- mates. Although we came from many different schools, we soon began enjoying each others pranks and antics and began working well together. We were initiated by the Sophomore Class on October 11, 1956, and we gave them a return party on November 9th. During our Freshman year, our class members participated in many extra-curricular activities including; athletics, band, chorus, FF FHA, forensics, and dramatics. A year later as Sophomores and feeling a little more settled down, we really got into the swing of things with loads of activities, money-making schemes and plans for our future years at Birnamwood High School, We spon- sored the traditional Freshman Initiation and the party for the Freshmen on September 27, 1957, and were entertained by them on October 25th, for their return party. Post-Prom time came on May 19th. A day of excitement and contusion is a thorough description of April 23, 1958 for this was the day we ordered our precious little classringsl And ordering our classrings was great, but receiving them was much better and that we did as Juniors on October 13, 1958. Now in the upper classes and having shiny new rings to prove it, the Junior Class of 1959 decided that raising money snould be their chief goal that year. Our most successful endeavor was the Junior Class Play held on November 21, 1958, entitled Shy Guy . Our prom was held on May 8, 1 59 with the music by CUff Hoene and its theme was Blue Hawaii . The from King was Douglas Carlson and he selected Christine Joswiak as his queen. We also had many sales of which our magasine drive was the most successful. Also among our activities was the nomination of candidates for Girls State and Boys State and we were well represented by Pat Larsen at Badger Girls State and by Ken Knauf at Badger Boys State. Our Junior year ended and we each went through our summer vacation with many anticipations of our coming Senior year and of course, GRADUATIONS It finally arrived and now as the upper classmen, we started off by choosing our annual staff. On October 6, 1959, we went to Wausau and had our graduation pictures taken. At several of our class meetings, we selected our gowns, flowers, motto, and graduation announcements. We decided our class colors were to be red and white. The graduation class of I960, on tneir class trip went on a tour through the Wisconsin Dells and then on to Milwaukee to see a Braves game on May 17th. The Senior Banquet was held at the Club Normandy. There are 38 in our graduation class and the four long years till grad- uation have finally passed, only they weren't as long as we thought they would be as Freshman, in fact now we all agree, they were quite short and they went quite fasti ■The Past is Forever Gone, The Future All Our Own INTER-COLLEGIATE PRESS Publishers — Manufacturers Yearbooks — Yearbook Covers Diplomas — Graduation Announcements Factory — Home Office Kansas City, Mo.
