FORWARD With the monster, Totalitarianism, run- ning rampant, bringing suffering and depriva- tion to millions, threatening to destroy the last vestiges of democratic freedom, it gives us a certain amount of satisfaction and sol- ace to know that American men and women are struggling each day to perpetuate what our ancestors fought for and handed down to us. I think it is verv fitting for the Senior Class of 1943 to commemorate the lives to two peo- ple who wore just such pioneers by dedicating this Bihiscan to them for doing so much for education in Birnamwood. For it is my firm belief that upon free and universal education rest peace and prosperity. DEDICATION With great respect and pro- found appreciation, we hereby dedicate this, the Bishiscan of 1943, to Mrs. M. P. Cady and in memory of her husband, Dr. Cady, both of whom were pioneers in educational ad- vancement in the village of Birnamwood. There is to be no ta Using. Robert Klinner resigned and Victor Tenliaken was elected acting president for the remainder of the school year. Prospert Cstrowski was elected in William Kraft's ;lace, and Richard Van Vuren was elect- ed in LeRay Corrie's place. The student council has had a minimum of viola- tions in the first semester. In the second semester we have sponsored a defense stamp drive. We built a stand to sell stamps, and are now working to get 100 of the high school to buy stamps. But w'hen she becomes so much interested in spiritualism that she will nbt let her daughter see the man she loves—because he is not a spiritualist-_-her prac- tical sister, Roberta, decides to take a hand. So, in a scheme with her neice and her neice’s friend, she gives Jessica, and a •snobbish friend, a Hindu spiritualist in the person of the daugh- ter's fiance. Here begins 8 three-act farce that is uproariously different. The amazing, but easily explained, tricks of the great Ben Allah 8nd his assistant establish him as a supernaturalist of great ability, until he unwittingly hypnotizes Hawkins, the butler. The difficulty is that he cannot remove the spell I This, much to the distress of Dorothy, the maid, whom Hawkins has promised to take to the cinema. The peak of humor is reached when a former professor of the boys arrives, and Ben is forced to conduct a seance that is easily arranged but most unusual is results. On November 18, the one act play, ’’Paul Feces The Tire Shortage won Tirst place at a tournament held ct Bowler.
