•T. POLITICS Emory Folmar, a candidate in the Alabama gubernatorial race, spoke at B-SC during his campaign. Folmar, although he lost the race, was the strongest challenger that the other candidate, George Wallace, has ever faced in the governor ' s race. Folmar ' s visit was sponsored by the College Young Republicans. Former White House Chief of Staff, Hamilton Jordan, spoke at ' Southern on November 16, 1 382, as part of the Quest II lecture series. Jordan, once described by the Washington Post as the second most powerful man in this country, talked about the lessons of the Carter years and assessed the administration ' s successes and failures. When asked about his predictions for the United States, Jordan answered that he was fearful of the future of our country because we know so little about the world around us.
