THOMAS, JR. Smiling his way through a busy sched- ule, Mr. W. G. Thomas works hard as our Superintendent to improve Birdville High School. Mr. Thomas, who holds a Masters' De- gree, has been here 14 years. He taught bookkeeping, geography, and mathematics before becoming superintendent in 1944. Under his guidance the Birdville School system has grown from a small cluster of red-brick buildings housing about 400 students to its present modern plant which is accommodating 2600 pupils. SCHOOL BOARD First row: Mr. R. M. Dodson, Mr. E. A. Calloway. Jr., President, Mr. J. W. Boswell, Second row: Mr. M. G. Reeves, Mr. C. L. Shivers, Mr. W. G, Thomas, Jr., Mr. Lorin J. Brown. MRS. HALLIE SHANNON The all-important job of looking after the high school girls belongs to Mrs. Hallie D. Shannon, dean of girls. Coming to Birdville High School in 1943, Mrs. Shannon taught world history for several years before assuming her present duties. Mrs. Shannon received her Masters' Degree from Texas Christian University. K 4 MR. JULIUS BUSSEY For nearly five years the administrative course of Birdville High School has been guided along the path of sound education by a strong, firm hand- that of Principal Julius Bussey. Mr. Bussey holds the Bachelor of Science Degree and the Master of Education Degree from North Texas State College. MISS ELLEN JOPLING For the past four years Miss Jopling has been our friend and advisor. She has taught eighth grade English since she began teaching at Birdville. Miss ,Iopling holds the Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts Degrees. She became guidance counselor last September. MR. JOHNNY NOBLES Mr, Nobles, who has been teaching in the Bird- ville School system for seven years, was promoted to vice-principal at the beginning of the 1952 school year. The personable young teacher is probably better known for his great basketball teams of the past few years than for any other phase of his teaching ac- tivity. Mr. Nobles has his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degrees. He expects to receive his Masters' Degree in June. . , ,. ...V--.-.v.,,.pf.r-W-1--W MRS. BENNIE ALLRED Secretary 'wwf MRS.
