Thejuniors did a wonderful job of portraying their parts, but no one will ever forget when Pete QRodney Shayj, disguised as Georgia East , pranced onto the stage. The seniors accepted the challenge of presenting a dramatic play and effectively produced Charlotte Bronte's 'jane Eyre on February l l and 12. The char- acters brought to life 'jane Eyre's many experiences at Thornfield Hall. The dramatic one-act contest play, Finders- Keepers won first place in the league contmt March 15 at Sharon Springs, over four other plays, the most ever entered. League standings. The team was led by' eleven returning leltermen and an array of un- derclassmen. The Cardinals finished the season with an over all record of 3 wins. 3 losses, and l tie. Tasting defeat in their first two appearances. the liardinals came back with a 25 to T victory' over Norcatur. For their fourth game the Cards traveled to Brewster for Brewster's homecoming. It was a hard fought game all the way' but Bird liity' could not break through Brewster's 27 to 6 lead. Bird liity' met Mcllonald for the Cardinal Homecoming game Ucto- ber 20. The Cardinals finished the season with 13-O victories over Sharon Springs and Grinnell. Wayne Clark. senior. led the scoring with 48 points. Derald Sawyer. sophomore. was next with fl touchdowns and 5 extra points for a total of 23 points. ln rushing averages. freshman Keith Bowers led the squad with a 9 3 yard average per carry. He was closely' followed hy' Wayne Clark. Herald Sawyer, and sophomore Johnnie liraigw each averaging over 5 yards per carry. The longest run of the year was a T2 yard punt return by' Wayne Clark for a touchdown against Sharon Springs.
