The ac tivities of the day began with the biggest pa- rade of floats ever beginning at one o'clock, led by the Bird City High School band. Then came the victorious football game with Ben- kelman which Bird City won by a score of Z0-O. At halftime, the announcement was made that the seniors had won the float con- test. Following this, Don Kehlbeck crowned Beverly Elliott, homecoming queen. To climax the wonderful day we danced to the music of Bob Murphy and his orchestra. The Cardinals won all the league games to cop the first place trophy for the second consecutive year and finished the season with an over all record of seven wins and two losses. Total points for the year: Bird City Cardinals, 136g opponents, 35g for a per game av- erage of 15 to 4. The overall record was 8 games won and 10 lost, The A-A League record was 6 won and 4 lost and this earned them a tie for second place in the league. The sea- son was unique in that most of the games were won or lost by a narrow margin, and this fact provided many thrilling games for the spectators. The Cardinals L 71 35 50 48 43 553 52 44 50 45 29 48 41 45? 64 46 44 75 showed much promise at the beginning of the season and built up a Very impressive list of conquests until past mid-season and then they hit bad luck and went steadily downhill from then on. The Cardinals scored moral victories on several occasions, especially in the two tight games with the exceptionally good Sharon Springs team. The Cardinals should be commended for their fine sportsmanship throughout a hard-fought season.
