HITCH YOUR WAGON TO A STAR, remember that theme fellow seniors? lt seemed that the cherished date of April 25, 1952 would never come, but finally after days of secrecy, careful planning and tedious work, our goal was finally reached and much appreciated. When we opened the gym to the public for it's debut we heard many ob's and ah's from fellow students and townfolk who viewed it. They liked the rose-covered arch through which they entered and the huge star which glowed over the star shaped punch bowl. The ceiling of two tone blue streamers from which little silver stars hung, gave the gym a roman- tic look on a starlight night. Our theme was carried out in the orchestra box and on the other end of the floor by a large fake wagon to which was connected large celestial stars on the walls. Rex Dunn, junior class president opened our short but entertaining program with the wel- come. Stanley Lamb, senior class president responded to the welcome. After this Rex acted as tostmaster and we were well entertained by talent of our class. Delores Lillich, Glenda Hilty, and Troy Witham presented a trumpet trio, Claudia Cormack presented several vocal solos, and Roy Davis favored us with an accordian solo. Our banquet was prepared by our mothers and served by members of the Sophomore Class. The banquet was certainly enjoyed and appreciated by all. After the banquet, we danced to the music of an eleven-piece orchestra from Champion, Nebraska. The dance lasted until midnight and only then did we say our au revoir's and began our way home, confident that the junior-Senior Prom of 1952 had been a success and would long be remembered in the hearts of all who attended it that night. 0.5 -- f fa I I , mlltilqihligmeklw, 7 I lb-Z! tfgsi? t hx Saonsored by BIRD CITY PRODUCE Gordon Bastin Proprietor CENTRAL KAN. POWER CO. Bird City Kansas 5. jf BRITIV1-1 I iffcw c ,Ks 9 Our carnival this year was held in the high school gym on October 31, 1952. Halloween was the theme we carried out during the camival. The following camival booths were open to the public, bingo stand, grocery store, penny pitch, ball throw, novelty stand, duck-pond, fish pond, and cake walk. Thejuniorssponsored a straw tunnel and a spook house and the F. F. A. entertained with boxing matches. The seniors also presented a skit entitled, The Ghost Walks, for the floor show. During most of the evening the F. ll. A. served lunches in the Home Economics Room. At eleven o'clock, the King and Queen and the Prince and Princess were crowned. The Princess was Detta Mae Sawyer and Prince was Wayne Clark both of whom were from the eighth grade. Their attendents were Shyrl Applegate and john Sherer of the seventh grade. Following this was the crowning of the Queen and King, Martha Borman .and Troy Witham respectively from the senior class. Attendents to the King and Queen were: Yvonne Ostdiek and llenry Weaver, juniors, Gwen Rambat and Richard Boswell, sophomores, and Maxine Schocke and Jay Underwood from the freshman class. The Prince and Princess were present- ed with billfolds, and the King and Queen were presented with matching identification bracelets. At eleven-thirty the lucky ticket was drawn for the grand prize, a television set, and it was won by Charles Edmonds of Lansing, Kansas. After the drawing the balloon burst took place and the doors were closed on a very suc- cessful Senior Carnival. After the expenses were accounted for the Seniors showed a profit of approximately 3950.00. 1' 1 . , 1 ' i r v 5 . -3, . i Prelude to crowmng Get Xeady, Gayla Homecoming Qieen Tig, : Santa -1-ni. - .I Bashful Buddy ooh-au for me , i -I , lst in Christmas decorarions Camera shy, coach? p 3 Senior??7??
