As we gaze into our crvstal ball in the year of 1962 we take a look at the Seniors of l952 and find them well on their way to fame and fortune l'1rst of all we see a large cattle ranch but us one moment the sign over the gate says the I amb Ranch than must be btan and Sue s dwelling place Coming out of the gate is a new 1062 automatic yet propelled Buxck and we find that itan Sue and their guest oan will accompany us through the future oan tells us that after her vacation she will start a tour to demonstrate he new JOSH' treatment which has become second in importance to the lxenny treatment and is merely a way of removing tonslls by massaging Lpon entering Cheyenne County and much to our amazement we fvnd that Lyle and Luceen are now the co landlords of the whole county and also claim to be the world s laziest but most prosperous farmers Lyle and Luceen refuse our invitation to accompany us on our Journey as they are scheduled to entertain the Lmted Nations Wheat Growers Association this evening Before leaving we in quirt of them as to whether or not they are married Luceen s reply is that they are not but of course are the most eligible bachelors in the county and could be married any time they wished to be As we leave Cheyenne County a large campus comes into view and walking across the grounds we see a familiar figure Who is rt? lxo one but Raoma Purvis the professor this is Flirtation College Raoma decides to call for a substitute teacher so that she will be and then with a stunned look on her face she recognizes the voice and abruptly asks hh' that you ack? S Oils N Oh ye fellow classmates, how we worked how we planned but how we had fun preparing the unior Senior Prom It all took place in a Chinese night club the Ruby Foo in this way we carried out the theme of our prom Many memorable things happened before we got through Remember when half of the ceiling fell down? And then the night before our gala affair the lights went out and we had to work by candlelight but we didn t mind for, after all we were only stuffing chicken wire for the ming trees At 4 O0 p m on Friday April 27 the gym was opened for exhibition and truly looked like a Chinese night club. Ming trees stood at each side of the orchestra box at the south end of the gym Chinese scenerles bordered with ming trees were placed between the bar and the quartet tables at the north end Soft rays of light were diffused from the candles on each table 1 red light above the bar a light for the orchestra and the footltghts which shown on the sign The Ruby Foo which was hung on the stage curtams and decorated with blue and red lights Brown roofs with Chinese lanterns hanging from each corner were built over the bar and the orchestra box Two large chandeliers hung from the false ceiling of red and lime green streamers which were attached to black and red side walls The program was short but entertaining Stanley Lamb junior class president, welcomed the guests and Ralph Downing, senior class president esponded to this welcome Following this some of the class talent was presented with Twila Underwood singing a solo Carol ean Nothdurft playing a flute solo, and Arnold Smith honor- ing us witl a piano solo of the beautiful ballad Deep Purple Our mothers prepared the banquet with menu consisting of tomato cocktail mock chicken legs stuffed potatoes, buttered com butterfly salad strawberry shortcake and coffee The favors Chinese fans and memory books we found beside our plates together with the little Chinese parasols with an olive on the end which we found in the cocktail After the banquet we danced to the music of a six piece orchestra from McCook unlor College and at the stroke of twelve, left our beautiful Chinese night club confident that our junior Senior Banquet and Prom had been one which would long bring pleasant memories to those who had attended it on that Friday night of April 27 1091 O qv I Sponsored by FRUHAUF CLYDE BOLYARD GARAGE Band Uniforms SUNDERLAND ELECTRIC Phone 15 Bird City Kansas Wichita, Kansas Ho1po'nt Appliances Bird City Kansas 1 -..LM Q N I '44f .zu V1 4 4 Lrg, .R :ja X ? 49 14 W 1? 5 X gl x -'lg K t.
